MomoTimeToDie,

Yet another example of why games journalists are shit and deserve less

MomoTimeToDie,

and I think it should be literally impossible for customers to consent to it.

Why? It’s their computer. Shouldn’t people be able to do with their own machine whatever they please?

MomoTimeToDie,

Got it. You just think that you should be unilaterally making decisions for other people

MomoTimeToDie,

The only thing unreasonable here is that you think you have room to decide what other people do with their own hardware.

MomoTimeToDie,

How so? Users consciously choose to install (and keep installed) these programs. Why should your opinion matter?

MomoTimeToDie,

I still fail to see why you people think you have more of a right to my computer than I do

MomoTimeToDie,

It’s a fucking video game. Don’t like it? Don’t fucking install it. Simple as.

MomoTimeToDie,

Because it’s my own fucking choice to install it.

MomoTimeToDie,

Cool, then don’t download it if you don’t like it.

MomoTimeToDie,

Gaming companies are not giving you a choice

Weird. Nobody has forced me to install a single game yet.

MomoTimeToDie,

Lmao Nintendo is doing plenty well at selling both consoles and exclusives.

MomoTimeToDie,

The guy who uploaded the video that corporate content farm is “reporting” on actually covers exactly why this happens. In short, the gba plays sound from a certain part of ram, which a cpu interrupt continously refreshes. In the event of a crash, it keeps playing sound, but doesn’t get the interrupt to keep it playing the proper data from ram. If you let it cycle through all of ram, it eventually leaks out and just starts playing, well, everything else, eventually getting to the game rom. Relevant Videos

MomoTimeToDie,

That’s quite an advantage if you can actually stomach what it looks like

I mean, it honestly wouldn’t look so bad on a 32:9 monitor.

MomoTimeToDie,

You’d be surprised how often the actual, physical hardware is just chugging along on “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mindset.

MomoTimeToDie,

Sega has a surprising amount of stuff under their belt. The Yakuza games would be the biggest example. Atlus and all the megami tensei series are Sega.

Exclusive: China removes official after video games rules spark turmoil (www.reuters.com)

Well look at China back paddle again, where is that “evidence” some troll mentioned about and psychology class 101 blah blah. This is so predictable just like the western “think for the kids” policy changes without any long term thinking or any science backing that decision. (like some US states pushing for abstinent for...

MomoTimeToDie,

Good. Government should have no place in gaming

MomoTimeToDie,

Maybe they should start off by figuring out how to actually make a good game

MomoTimeToDie,

Congratulations on not playing anything intensive, I guess?

MomoTimeToDie,

Your last paragraph is spot on. When I bought a 4090, frame generation wasn’t even a consideration. I’m already throwing money into my computer to get the best framerate on the consumer market using a single card. I have no need for smudgy frames when I can already shove max settings through the card for 60+ fps on most everything I play. Almost like that’s why I bought the damn thing.

And yeah, I’ve played around with frame generation a handful of times. It’s a neat gimmick. But ultimately, that’s all it really feels like. It’s something I can flip on to flex about the absolutely ludicrous frame rates the card can get.

But from my experience on the other side of the fence before I got my current pc, I would’ve absolutely loved to trade a little bit of clarity for extra frames. It would’ve pushed a lot of stuff just over the line of being comfortable to play. Or being able to trade off some motion clarity and bump up the graphics a bit while keeping a playable fps.

MomoTimeToDie,

It is horrific that this human-rights black hole has such an influence on global industries, simply by dictating what its people are allowed to enjoy

Why? You clearly have no issues with any other government denying people their rights and exerting massive influence over media. Just pissy that it isn’t your own?

MomoTimeToDie,

Don’t bother, this guy is just absolutely out of touch and unhinged when it comes to games.

MomoTimeToDie,

Lmao a perfect summary of everything you shit out on this site

MomoTimeToDie,

Regulations that apply to any major market inevitably end up effecting what everyone else gets, especially for things coming out of that market.

MomoTimeToDie,

Lmao the cope is strong with you

MomoTimeToDie,

I just don’t want regulation, regardless of which country is pushing it.

MomoTimeToDie,

This. A ton of games have it removed eventually. The main purpose is just to keep the game from getting cracked during the initial release phase where they expect the majority of sales and hype.

MomoTimeToDie,

The problem, at least to me, is the wildly inconsistent application of the rules. Plenty of streamers have gotten bans for inappropriate content for far, far less than this, and been told to shove it when they tried to appeal. I can guarantee you nobody would be up in arms over this if twitch just treated it as a free for all, and didn’t care if people streamed tits. The problem is that it isn’t, and lots of people get banned, while the big thirst streamers get given a free pass on everything

Also, If this goes through, the “banned games” list is going to need some real pruning.

MomoTimeToDie,

I wonder how many non-nsfw streamers are rejoicing because they no longer have to be paranoid about modded games and nudity

Probably in the single digits since at this point nobody actually expects twitch to treat the rules as if they evenly apply to everyone

MomoTimeToDie,

Exactly. The twitch thot meta is entirely successful because they don’t have to compete with people posting actual porn, and that they aren’t posting on a porn site such that it’s less likely to be restricted, and gets full publicity

MomoTimeToDie,

Fuck yeah I’m using my twitch account. Because you know that there are going to be drops-enabled streams

MomoTimeToDie,

It eternally amuses me that it’s on the banned games list. Like yeah, it’s a shit game, but looking at the rest of the list (and games that aren’t banned, for that matter), it’s absurdly mild.

MomoTimeToDie,

The main reason the ps4 pro came out was the relatively sudden mass adoption of 4k tvs as the new standard. Sony wanted something that could reliably take advantage of it

MomoTimeToDie,

I mean… OK? There’s nothing wrong with just wanting stuff in a game you’ve played for a while and plan on sticking with. Even as an adult with adult money, I still occasionally buy things like skins in games. Because ultimately I’m not always looking for a new game to play. I like the ones I already play. Nothing wrong with throwing $20 at a game I’ve played for years and would easily play for just as long going forward.

MomoTimeToDie,

In an MP context, you get into peer pressure if you don’t have a cool skin or whatever

Perhaps it’s just my own experience, but I find next no no pressure whatsoever to buy skins, and never really have. Yeah, there’s the occasional skin with bs particles or a broken animation and they end up being cheat skins basically, but they usually get patched fast these days.

MomoTimeToDie,

Adult currency, but I’ve played since middle school

MomoTimeToDie,

What’s wrong with live service games? It just seems like a stupid category to just eliminate on principle with how many good games there are

MomoTimeToDie,

I’ve never felt like Tf2 and league don’t respect my time. Just because some games are shit, doesn’t mean they all are

MomoTimeToDie,

Yeah, I totally get not wanting kids to play online games.

The main reason I wanted to bring these things up is because it seems you have more of a problem with live service games done poorly rather than with the principle of them on their own.

MomoTimeToDie,

A bit of a middle ground, but nuclear option is pretty fun, coming from someone who plays ace combat

MomoTimeToDie,

I like it, but damage model vs HP takes some getting used to. You actually have to learn to take hits in nonessential places, instead of just getting praised by mihaiy for flying headlong into a missile

MomoTimeToDie,

I wish the EU would just fuck off of the games industry. The last thing we need is a bunch of eurotrash politicians pushing politics onto the industry

MomoTimeToDie,

If it means their grubby hand are out of it, yes.

MomoTimeToDie,

Because I don’t want governments having any pressure regarding what people make. If the EU actually respected games as art, they’d damn well understand how government pressure and money corrupts the final product.

MomoTimeToDie,

“everything is political” is just retarded cope from people like you who get upset that they can’t use everything as a the basis of their political rants

MomoTimeToDie,

So, you’re also American.

And I don’t fucking want the American government involved either. Or the Chinese government. I don’t even want industry jannies like the esrb ibvolved.

this sort of thing is not gonna be wildly unusual in a number of countries in Europe in other forms of media. That is, it’d be a little odd if this wasn’t specifically done with video games, by the norms there.

So? It’s still shit when they do it elsewhere too, but this is a thread about video games. “the government already fucks up other industries already” is possibly the absolute worst possible argument for doing something.

MomoTimeToDie,

I’m aware. Doesn’t mean I like it, or that it excuses making things worse

MomoTimeToDie,

Not through steam, but I found a really cool add on type thing for ds4windows that configures the dualsense triggers to work and feel like the dual action gamecube triggers. It’s absolutely amazing when I’m emulating gamecube stuff to actually have the same triggers
