Some people said the same thing about gay marriage.

Dumb bigot: "The gays are marrying? Now my marriage is not as good"

I had a Commodore 64. I played Ultima 3 and Archon (wizard's chest) as my first games I really liked.

Corporation greed is real.

Corporations are not people. Workers are people.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Citizens United is a bad ruling that was a big win for Republicans. And workers and people without money lost.

Mitt Romney: "Corporations are people, my friend."

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Yea, the first game is great. I am replaying it now.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Yea, I love the spells and the difference classes abilities. I play on hard because of the big bags of money the pop out of regular mobs make up for the difficulty.

And I love the pawn system. How the pawns can be hired by other players and they learn how to fight better or about a quest-all learned by adventuring with another player.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

They learn how to react. Some were more guarding you, or more aggressive, or will pick up and mine stuff, etc. You can pay to retrain them if you don't like their behavior.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

I know pawns will learn the best way to fight a monster by being shown by you, have another pawn show them, or knowledge scrolls you can use on your pawn. You can check their knowledge on a monster and it ranges from 1 to 3 stars.

I will end up on a sorcerer and my pawn will end up a mage for healing. And I will hire fighter and ranger pawns then.

The hydra at the beginning?

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

The game is great. It on sale a lot too, but worth $30 because you get the game and the expansion for that price.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Why not? They seem to offer a lot of value to the Capcom games I have played.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Elden Ring is a long and very fun game. I got the platinum on the ps5.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

I liked it too.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Yea and the hydra is really the first boss. It is an easier hydra.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Agreed. I think it swallowed my pawn the first time.

Hairyblue,
@Hairyblue@kbin.social avatar

Agreed. The story of the pawns and NG+ is great.

Off topic Dragon's Dogma 2 (kbin.social)

I finished Baldur's Gate 3 and really enjoyed it. I now have my eye on finishing Dragons Dogma on the PC for the release of Dragons Dogma 2. Anyone else planning on playing this? Is there an active sub on the fediverse for us to chat about it? Also share each other's pawns....

I found 2 Dragon Dogma fediverse communities. I joined both but they are dead at the moment. Hopefully we can pick one and post about the game there.

Edit: Let's try to join the Lemmy version. It would probably get seen more.

@dragons_dogma

And Dragons Dogma 2 looks epic.

Thanks! I really loved the first game and the pawn system. Dragon's Dogma 2 is looking very good.

On my main character I have a bag for potions, a bag for scrolls, a bag for alchemy, and a bag for food. When I pick up arrows, I chose the option to send to the character that has a bow. When I pick up potions, I spread them around. When I pick up a spoon or things I'm going to sell, I pick up and add to wares. Heavy items that I am going to sell like weapons and armor, I send to camp. (It is easy to be staning in front of a vendor, then go to camp, get the heavy items, exit camp and I'm in front of the vendor again for selling it) When my character is getting heavy, I send all the camp supplies to camp. No need to really carry them.

The CEO and upper management at WOTC are the real monsters. Greed is bad.

I bet they don't even play D&D.

As a queer man myself, I wanted to talk to Newbon about what he meant towards the tail-end of his speech, where he said, "The community has reached out to so many of us at Larian, and said they were seen and they were represented by this game." I've spoken with him in the past about playing through Astarion's trauma as a survivor, and many of the same sentiments returned during our conversation here.

"That was the big thing about [Baldur's Gate 3]: people felt seen and represented, but also, it feels 'normal', quote unquote," he said, talking about how most of the game's inclusion is almost casual and straightforward in nature, and I find myself agreeing with him.

As someone who, you know, likes men, Baldur's Gate 3 never really felt like it was trying to pander to me or anything. That's not to say I'd hold it up as a great work of queer literature either, but I can absolutely see why some members of my community felt seen or heard by the nonchalance with which it separated pronouns, body types, and genitalia, to name just one example.

But I'd feel remiss if I didn't offer up another perspective. Back in September, contributor Noah Smith wrote for PC Gamer on how the game offered a lot in regards to representation, but still had some room to grow. "Thirteen years later with Baldur's Gate 3, I believe there's a genuine opportunity to tackle difficult subjects like gender and disability narratively and mechanically," Noah wrote. "Even having the option to raise deep conversations about identity with a party … could allow for deeper narrative role playing, and incentivize players to step outside of the binary with their own character."

...

But even if it's not some subversive work of gay literature, I can still see how plenty of people playing Baldur's Gate 3 felt seen, or allowed to be their authentic selves within the game. Newbon reflects on the humbling experience of being able to bring that sensation to players.

Wow, the Honour Mode sounds difficult on many levels.

I wasn't aware that if a companion dies that a scroll would not bring him back. Is this correct? I guess the two deaths listed in the article are not combat deaths. That must be the difference?

I usually leave Scratch safe at camp. I am a Wizard, and I conjure elementals for the dangerous adventuring I do.

It's unclear what the cause is of these game crashes - or why save files are being affected. The fact that Xbox itself appears to have made a system update live to assist with the issue is interesting, however - and perhaps speaks to the importance of Baldur's Gate 3 for the console.

Looks like Microsoft and Larian both want this fixed quickly.

I can't stop role playing

I’m currently on my honour run and much to my dismay I can’t stop role playing. I’m playing a Githyanki monk. So far I’ve staked Astarion, dismissed Gale and refused all Illithid powers. All because it made sense for my character. And apart from Astarion these are things that can be quite useful with the increased...

Not only did Baldur's Gate 3 win Game of the Year and shadow drop its Xbox version, but it also won Best Community Support, Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, and the Player's Voice category. Alan Wake 2 followed with 3 wins in the categories of Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.

Congratulations to Larian! Their love for making Baldur's Gate 3 really did shine at the awards.

I enjoyed reading that.
