Canada Post will increase the cost of individual stamps by eight cents starting on May 6, and the cost of a booklet or roll of stamps will go up by seven cents per stamp.
Canada Post says domestic letter mail rates have gone up twice in the last decade: by five cents in 2019 and two cents in 2020. It says the last “major pricing change” was made in March 2014.
It says the impact of the change is estimated to be about 65 cents per year for the average Canadian household, and about $12.07 for the average Canadian small business.
Make it $2 for my household that might mail something once a year and invest yourself in some infrastructure, Canada Post.
Seems most of the mail I get is various spam. I’ll pay an extra dollar for the things I want to mail if it means that the credit card companies are paying an extra dollar to send me their crap.
I’m feeling pretty smug about that 10 pack of permanent stamps I bought over a decade ago. The last couple will be worth a few dollars by the time I get to them
I could be wrong but I doubt they stopped honouring them. A) they were sold as permanent, B) although not widespread use of stamps are considered general currency.
old school note: Used to get them as change sometimes at the postoffice or small shops, and could use them toward purchases
