ArtikBanana,

Better to pirate it.
The original devs were kicked out and the current owners are scummy.

ArtikBanana,

I have a bunch of games I bought a while after playing the pirated versions, and I usually don’t play them at all.
I guess there isn’t really a way to see how many people do this.

ArtikBanana,

Been using the Glove80 for over a year now and I love it.
Everything about it is exactly what I wanted from an ergonomic keyboard and it’s also very customizable.
It’s been very comfortable for me from the moment I got it up until now. And while I used to like rough PBT keycaps texture, I’ve learned to enjoy the Glove80’s smooth POM keycaps.
I had only one keyboard before it which I could consider as “ergo” and have used for quite a bit - The Sweep. I liked it, but the limited amount of keys ended up being an annoyance for me. Especially when gaming. Plus the Glove80’s curve and palm rest make it substantially more comfortable for me, despite it being a larger keyboard.

There are only 2 things left on my checklist for the “perfect ergo keyboard”:

  • Lighter switches - I got the red chocs before the red pro chocs were an option. I’m thinking of soldering the 20g ambient switches though.
  • Pointing input module - There was some work going on about an Orbital v2 touchpad integration with the Glove80. But I haven’t heard anything about it since (I think it’s been over a year).

So I’ve been eyeing the Svalboard.
I’m not sure it’ll fit my needs as it isn’t wireless and has less keys. But I love everything else about it.

ASUS Scammed Us (www.youtube.com)

This undercover warranty investigation is a one-year follow-up from our series that investigated ASUS for motherboards incinerating AMD CPUs, at the end of which ASUS promised a number of improvements to its then-anti-consumer warranty processes. Spoiler alert: They’re still anti-consumer. We sent our ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme...

ArtikBanana, (edited )

Specifically motherboards or in general?
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Asrock motherboards. And they’re also about the only ones without some recent controversy (for AMD CPUs).

In general, I can personally vouch for Noctua.
They sent me a free mounting kit for my then 7 year old CPU cooler when I switched it over to a new PC. I’ve had it for 12 years now.

Edit: Never mind, looks like also Asrock aren’t too great.

ArtikBanana,

Yeah, from what I’ve seen they weren’t great before and have switched things up in recent years.
But I haven’t had any personal experience with their boards.

ArtikBanana,

Was it before AM4 by any chance?

ArtikBanana,

Well damn.

ArtikBanana,

Might want to check out Bigscreen Beyond VR and Shiftall Megane X.
The Bigscreen one is already out and looks like a nice upgrade over the Valve Index.

ArtikBanana,

1k

ArtikBanana,

Oh. Didn’t consider that

ArtikBanana,

Might want to give Glove80 a look. And since it sounds like you prefer light switches like me, there’s a version with pro red switches (35g).
Maybe also hop in to MoErgo’s Discord and get some ideas there.

I started with a Ferris Sweep (34 keys), and while I loved a lot of things about it, those weren’t enough keys for me, I had to compromise too much + I realized a wireless split would be much more comfortable to me than a wired one.
Although I like having the option to use it wired.

ArtikBanana,

Are you ok with a split keyboard?
If yes then the Glove80 might fit, although it’s not completely silent.
Silent low pro switches are supposed to come out in a few months, but you’ll probably have to solder those onto the keyboard.

ArtikBanana,

I believe most people here with ergonomic keyboards have one either because they are already experiencing pain, or are trying to prevent it.

I got one trying to prevent it (Glove80), but I ended up liking the keyboard for other reasons.
It’s much more comfortable for me, extremely customizable - Interchangeable keycaps, programmable with ZMK, easy to change the tilt and tent, etc.
And I ended up really liking the low profile choc switches.

It depends on what you’re looking for in a keyboard.

ArtikBanana,

That’s neat.
I’ve built a Sweep and a Fifi, which were very nice, but I found them too limiting. Especially for gaming.
Maybe with enough time it would’ve worked, I’ve seen people with some crazy layouts specifically optimized to their workflow. But the Glove80 also ended up being more comfortable so I’ll be sticking to it.

Next stage for me would be adding a pointing device to the keyboard and then I’m set.

ArtikBanana,

I’ve been using the Glove80 for a while now and loving it. Although I’ll probably get another one with silent choc switches once those are out.

Personally I’m using Colemak-DH on it, but I’ve seen a layout on the Glove80 discord that’s been optimized for both English and programming called Engrammer.
(This is how the layout is like on a Glove80)
The person who made it is using a Glove80, but it should also be good for other keyboards.

ArtikBanana,

Glove80 will have a case made for it very soon. Might want to take that into account.
The case compared to the Advantage360

ArtikBanana,

At their site once it’s out.
They also have a Discord where they give updates and answer questions.

ArtikBanana,

Ah that’s unfortunate.
I wish the default wasn’t Discord but it seems like what most do these days.
But I’ve heard they’re also quite responsive over email if you have any questions.

ArtikBanana,

There’s a page about it now, and there’s an option to be notified once it’s out
