Look, I get it, Microsoft buying Actiblizz is bad for competition and growth, but any argument saying its a monopoly is plainly false. Microsoft+Actiblizz doesnt even make up half of the available content in the gaming world, and im not counting steam trash or vis novels. In the gaming world a title by an idie studio could come out of nowhere and outperform any game put forth by the big 6 (now 5) companies.

Understandable. Xbox pays developers to have their games on GP and most games are on a timed contract. Xbox owned games are the exception. There are also a few games on gamepass that have been there for what feels like always, Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Monster Sanctuary, and many of the RyuGaGotoku games were on there, had the contract time out, then MSoft and RGG brought them back to Gamepass

Your love for the game is valid but criticisms of the game are also valid. The biggest flaw starfield has is the massive amount of gameworld it provides. In skyrim, CP2077, BG3, Morrowind, Zelda, and whatever else you want to think of, you can pick a direction and go.

In nearly every case, the game is designed to take you somewhere, give you something, reward you for straying off the main path. In Starfield, both space and planet side, youre likely to run into a whole lot of nothing. Which is realistically fine, the universe is already a vast amount of nothing, but in game design that makes for a boring and lackluster RPG and that is the biggest problem SF has. That doesnt take away from the players like you who want this experience though, but thats kind of why Space Sim games are a niche experience.

Not really. If you were going to buy an xbox, you would either just buy the cheaper version, the more expensive version assuming its just better, or look up the difference.

Its not a bad article and I can see how the author and his friend have gripes, but there isnt a video game out there that those 2 cant scrutinize under the same criteria. Video games are crafted narratives and any “choice based” game is only going to get you to a couple different outcomes, and usually only one minor ending is different.
