Is anyone using VMware under a Wayland host?

I’ve been using VMware Player (free version) for a while now and it’s been working fine. Recently I switched to Wayland and VMware’s grab input behavior broke. The guest gets most keys correctly but Alt and Super are intercepted by the host. Clicking on the vm also gives me a remote desktop popup on the host prompting to...

HeyLow,

Specifically for Windows vms without a GPU passed to it, VMware tends to do a way better job at least in my testing

HeyLow,

Yeah nothing has changed from the incident, all of the people there still give me a Stockholm syndrome vibe.

HeyLow,

These kind of apps exist on iOS too

HeyLow,

I don’t know if they have been updated; but no they have the horrible screeching feedback too. I used to use one of these apps on my iPod touch and had an aux running to the line in on my computer, worked great as a microphone

HeyLow,

Not likely with the $99 apple developer licence bullshit

HeyLow,

I agree with this, for anyone at even a beginner level fredora is pretty great! I’ve used it many times for hosting servers, it’s pretty reliable and isn’t going away any time soon

HeyLow,

First off you should take this to !linux_gaming like @tal said

Can’t say I’ve ever tried to use “remote play together” with a game through proton. Does RPT work for you on other games? And what version of proton are you on?

HeyLow,

Of all people I kinda hope RWBY goes to CrunchyRoll, it’s the only place that would keep things cannon. God knows WB would fuck it up by themselves.

HeyLow,

Pale Moon is the only independent fork that I know of that doesn’t depend on gecko or ff

HeyLow,

Pale Moon is the only alternative I can think of, it’s independent of Gecko and FF

HeyLow,

Been using it since December, it’s been pretty stable! It’s nice having my subs sync up

HeyLow,

Meanwhile the quest actually has apps, and is pcvr compatible

HeyLow,

That’s fair, my biggest qualm with it is the price/per value.

I could buy a valve index, a vr capable computer, a quest 3, and a steam deck, for the price.

As for your alvr point, you still need vr controllers to play most vr games.

HeyLow,

I hope this doesn’t mean they will be opening up the email addresses for use after they delete/clear them

HeyLow,

I see this as a good thing!

The more Microsoft adds adware, surveys, and shitty requirements like tpm, the more people get finally fed up with Microsoft’s bullshit and finally switch to linux!

HeyLow,

You could try to use a VPN and make a US steam account, then that might allow you to buy the game

PlayStation’s first Remote Play dedicated device, PlayStation Portal remote player, to launch later this year at $199.99 (blog.playstation.com)

PlayStation Portal remote player brings the PS5 experience to the palm of your hand. It includes the key features of the DualSense wireless controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback*. The vibrant 8-inch LCD screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps, providing a high definition visual experience that’s...

HeyLow,

With the price being $200 you might as well spend 120 more to get a refurbished steam deck, install ps remote play on that then you have a handheld that can play ps, Xbox, and pc games on the go without an internet connection.

HeyLow,

That’s alright it’s an epic exclusive, they can have it while it’s shit lmao

HeyLow,

Likely just a usb bandwidth limit you are hitting, try unplugging other devices that arent in use, I had this issue with my rift cv1 Edit* Also plug your rift directly into a usb 3.0 port on your motherboard, hubs even powered ones can cause issues with high bandwidth devices

HeyLow,

Odd last troubleshooting thing I can think of is to try plugging it into one of your front panel usbs since they are usually using a separate usb controller. Otherwise you might just have a defective unit
