Opafi,

I want to get off Mr. Bones’ Wild Ride

Fallout Series (Why don’t I like it?)

I think my first Bethesda game was Skyrim and I love Skyrim. I’ve played through Skyrim when it first came out I played through it again in the DLC came out. I played through it again on the switch I have since played through it again on PC. I love Skyrim. I played it so many times and I know it’s a meme to keep re-releasing...

Opafi,

Whereas Skyrim feels like there are a lot more playstyles available. Stealth archery feels very different to covert shooting, which feels very different to furtive bow handling, which feels very different to being a stealth archer which feels very different to using an arrow silently, which feels very different to using a huge, two-handed bow quietly. They’re not just visually different; how you approach and navigate combat encounters will be significantly different depending on what kind of build you have. It just feels like there’s so much more gameplay depth.

Opafi,

I’m just really looking forward to that optimistic feeling of looking into a bright future. It’s what I always loved trek for and from the looks of it, Resurgence captures it.

Opafi,

Liked your comment so much I just did it there.

Opafi,

Yeah, same. And man, I loved homeworld. Even spent too much money on that remastered collection with the mothership model when I was in college and shouldn’t have done it. But nah, not gonna buy an unfinished game.

Opafi,

You know, the universe doesn’t offer much beyond that ship called the Enterprise… What could they possibly do?

WhizKidz announce Star Trek Into The Unknown (shop.wizkids.com)

So, it seems like after FFG lost Star Wars: Armada to Atomic Mass Games (both studios under Asmodee) and fired the responsible heads in the process, said heads switched sides to the other “Star” sci fi franchise and were busy doing something similar with warp cores and glowing nacelles. It’s supposed to be released in a...

Opafi,

I’m not sure if I’m convinced. Could you post a screenshot of a solved captcha to prove it?

^/s^

Opafi,

Nice. So, I have an encfs folder on a cloud storage. Any way to use vaults to access it? Haven’t even found a way to load existing folders that were set up with vaults, let alone using something else…

Opafi,

What shielded bases were there in the books?

I mean, there was the “shield wall”, but that was just mountains that protected Arrakeen from the desert.

Opafi,

Soldiers reported they had heard cries of “help” and “hostages” in Hebrew, but that they assumed it was an attempt by Hamas to lure them into a trap.

They also reportedly found signs left by the hostages to get the military’s attention but dismissed these as part of the supposed ploy.

Everybody’s Hamas. If they’re not, they’re Hamas in disguise.

Hamas Says Gaza Truce Possible 'Within 24 To 48 Hours' If Israel Accepts Terms (www.barrons.com)

“If Israel agrees to Hamas demands, which include the return of displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza and increasing humanitarian aid, that would pave the way for a (truce) agreement within the next 24 to 48 hours,” said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive issue, as negotiations were...

Opafi,

Well… I guess those Israelis that were butchered at that concert don’t count, then?

Hamas is a terrorist organisation that has killed and kidnapped civilians. Israel killing more civilians doesn’t make Hamas any less of a despicable bunch of fucks.

Opafi,

Are you really arguing that Hamas are the good guys because of their lower “civilian casualty rate”? Like, “yeah, they killed a lot of civilians, but the others killed more, so they’re the good guys, touché”? Are you insane?

Opafi,

Dude, they butchered and kidnapped the attendees of a music festival. That’s not righteous resistance. Are you insane?

Opafi,

The touch pads are the killer feature, imho. They are the key to making mouse centric games playable. I wouldn’t want to touch eg stellaris with an 11 feet pole with joysticks or touch screen but sank so much time into the game on the deck.

I mean, there’s also so much other stuff… The device running on Linux and giving unrestricted access to the desktop. The software being great. The case being screwed, not glued. Valves super relaxed stance on people modifying the hardware. It all adds up. But from a purely user centric pov, I wouldn’t buy a PC based handheld without the pads after I saw how well they work.

Opafi,

the army said that it had “identified a number of terrorists armed with anti-tank missiles” approaching troops in Shejaiyya, and called in a helicopter strike on them.

It also said fighter jets had been striking terror targets in the Gaza Strip, as ground operations continued.

The area of Zeitoun, where the family house once stood, is now the focus of fresh operations by the IDF.

Everything is Hamas.

Opafi,

Okay, since you mention Celeste, maybe you could help me out? I bought it, played it, liked it, finished it and that was about it. A short, excellent platformer I thought. Since then, I’ve read several times how people said Celeste had an amazing replayability and how they

sunk hundreds of hours into it

so, could you tell me what to aim for after finishing the game? Why play it again?

Opafi,

We had an objective in play that gave additional points to critical hits that were scored. Which, in turn, meant that withdrawing the ships would also keep those points from being scored. Using other objectives might turn out better though, we’ll have to pick better ones next time, I guess.

I do like the 6 round limit on general. It helps avoid an endgame where it’s clear who won but you still have to keep playing.

Opafi,

Yeah, it does have objectives. The one that got picked was very battle-centric though… And even if it hadn’t been, the objectives are usually not worth enough to offset a 130-points-lead (as vessel point values are usually counted towards victory points).

Opafi,

Hey! Thanks so much for the info! And wow, that was a great, in-depth reply!

I really don’t plan to play competitively… It’s really just to have some of those big dinghies on the field and a nice time with a friend or my son, so odd rating schemes on tournaments or competitive lists gravitating towards an optimum doesn’t really concern me. Yet. ;)

I would wager you will have a blast with what you’ve purchased.

Awesome! That’s what I needed to hear! Thank you! :) I am still concerned about the lack of rebel squadrons though… And it seems that the rebel units I got are worth about 400 pts in total (which is the standard play size if I understood that correctly), so I hope I won’t be annoyed by the lack of variety after a few matches. You saying it’ll be good gives me peace of mind for now though.

To be fair, I have kept spending money after I posted this and ordered a 6x3 neoprene mat with a fancy space image to have something to play on and I’m looking for some Armada dice sets which seem to be no longer available in Germany, which is probably going to annoy me terribly as online people seem to agree that more dice are kind of required. I learned that custom dice are expensive though, so I’ll just see how to deal with this.

Opafi,

Ah man, this comment… 😅

I now also ordered the Separatists’ and Republic’s starter sets as well to get more dice and additional rulers as well as those ships for maybe some smaller games. They’re about 50 bucks each while dice and rulers seem to be unavailable and sell for about 20 each, if you can even find some. Man, I’m hyped for the stuff to arrive.

Opafi,

Infact, I’d say the only other Metroid game that holds up to Super is Metroid Prime.

What about Zero Mission?

Opafi,

Ah man, here I was hoping for a new release of Homeworld: Cataclysm until I read the second half of the title…

Opafi,

What? It just means that they spend less than 30% on development. That doesn’t sound too far off, as a lot of the money probably goes to marketing, management, administration or (gasp) profits.

New Research Reveals Why You Shouldn’t Add a Banana to Your Smoothies (scitechdaily.com)

Researchers have found that the enzyme polyphenol oxidase (PPO) in certain fruits like bananas can reduce the absorption of heart-healthy flavanols, especially when combined with flavanol-rich ingredients like berries. The study suggests choosing ingredients with low PPO activity, such as pineapple or oranges, when making...

Opafi,

your not eating for enjoyment, your eating to fuel your body

Yeah? Well, you know, that’s just like uh, your opinion, man.
