I finished Control last week, likely the best game to marry a creepy funhouse with a sprawling government office that you’ll ever play. I was up and down on this one for a few months. There’s a fun narrative and plenty of atmosphere, but I wasn’t always enjoying the gameplay....
I wonder what percentage of players opt for the “story only” difficulties? Has anyone done this sort of study? One dev found that 70% opt for easy mode. They point out that most people don’t finish most games, and easy modes help increase that number.
Today at the grocery store a sweet older lady approached me and asked if I knew anything about computers. I said yes I do, and she produced a mouse saying that her son set up Linux mint for her and she was wondering if the mouse was compatible. It needed kernel version 2.6 or newer so I said that the mouse should work, guessing...
I don’t have any reason to not trust OP, but the likelihood of this conversation happening at ALL seems incredibly unlikely. Never mind that it is described as successful.
i can’t remember their name right now, but these are the custom MBK caps, yeah? I’ve been designing a similar set, where the layer characters are on the caps. I actually printed up transparent stickers in 2020 with this goal in mind. https://i.imgur.com/C5loSiu.jpg
I have an updated set of caps that I’ll order soon, I’m currently tinkering with the backlight glyphs. Still not quite satisfied.
Do you know if their system allows to share designs as a starting point? I know you can save for later.
I like your caps idea, I toyed with dye sublimation but then decided against that (clear stickers would have been way easier).
Thanks! I was happy-ish with the result. I created the font from a handwritten script I use when I send greeting cards. I didn’t find a way to keep the ink from rubbing off though, so they never lasted very long. I tried lacquering them, but likely didn’t do a very good job - I can be aggravatingly impatient.
My encoders are mostly mapped to arrow keys.
I think that’s almost what I’d do too - I’d like an easier way to select text when composing email/whatever, so I dream of a single key whole-word select function. I’d map it to a (variable) shift arrow, depending on whether I’m on the MacBook or the windows box.
Side note - I noticed your map has both windows and Mac specific commands - I didn’t know that was possible. Are these separate layers, or is the keyboard somehow aware of the OS it is attached to?
If the GUI key is tapped twice it switches to the windows base layer, double tap again and it goes to the Mac OS (default) layer. This is done using a “tap dance”, look for “td” in the map to find it.
This could easily a game changer for me! My brain warps whenever I require a multi key/layer function, while I’m connected to a windows box from my mac.
I think you can share layouts from FK Caps
Nice, I’m on mobile but will make a note to check this out later.
Honestly, this project, caps, and key map… I feel like you are me, lol
There’s a seiko kinetic watch in my collection that charges a capacitor with a rotor, and turns off the hand movement when it senses no activity for a period of time (I don’t remember how long). Eventually, the capacitor went bad and the watch doesn’t hold a charge anymore. It probably lasted me 12 years before this happened. It still holds a place of honor in my watch box, but I haven’t been able to wear it for probably 6 years.
If you put the arrow cluster under a layer, you could use the right hand thumb cluster + one key on the bottom row. The layer could be activated by a left hand chorded keypress.
I understand what you’re saying, but what I hear is “I want unitask keys that only do one thing, and are objectively harder to reach”. To me this lessens the effectiveness of this sort of build.
Some people prefer the ergonomics of low profile and tight spacing. The thinking is that it results in less finger movement, and thus less wear and tear on your joints, over the 40+ year course of using a computer for work.
As the title says: I was thinking about getting into 3d printing for a long time now. The main thing I can think of when it comes to reasons for printing is keyboard building. Do you folks have any recommendations for a good entry-level printer that is able to print for example a Charybdis? Luckily I really like split keyboard...
I am looking for a low profile keyboard compatible with the choc switches. I plan to put the choc sunset on it. I was looking for something similar to the Corne, just without the ergo-split thing. A standard 65-75% would work....
Question - is the low profile enclosed aluminum corne case compatible with any of the standard corne PCBs? I have a bunch of v2 boards already assembled, and am considering case options.
I’ve been a big fan of integrated bracelet watches since I started collecting in the late 90’s. This is one of my more recent acquisitions- the bracelet is so interesting!
I change out my switches frequently, and I’m looking for a tool that’s better than the free ones I’ve received over the years. Something that is robust, less likely to bend or break, is comfortable to use, and does a good job. Extra points if it’s cool looking, or comes in orange.
Hello! I made a post on the old subreddit previously asking for recommendations for cheap 36ish key keyboards. You all have so many helpful responses and I ended up ordering the parts for a Cheapino (https://github.com/tompi/cheapino) and want some advice for tenting these just pcb style boards. Hackysack?
Weird, I deleted all the descriptors before submitting the comment. Also, I can’t remove it because my lemmy app doesn’t have an edit capability, and being so new here I’m not exactly sure how to find this post on the web to see if I can edit it there…
