Honestly I doubt it that Deckard will change that much. First the basics must be fixed. My Index is also laying around collecting dust. Worked okay-ish at first but is mostly unusable at the moment.

I use a dactyl manuform with custom rotary encoders. The thumb keys have ctrl/shift/alt/win/layer-switch on both sides and space/enter on either side. I also use this keyboard for gaming and it works very well.
The middle row is almost identical to colemak, with the difference of one key and positions being shuffled. It probably makes a huge difference what you analyse 😃
