fmstrat,

Or use strings if you want clean binary results. (Grep can probably do this, too)

Edit: Yes, with -b, also -R follows symlinks unlike -r

fmstrat,

Forejo, where you can use your github oauth login

fmstrat,

Is “activist” the right term here? Pretty sure this is criminal.

A GOP Texas school board member campaigned against schools indoctrinating kids. Then she read the curriculum. (www.texastribune.org)

Weeks after winning a school board seat in her deeply red Texas county, Courtney Gore immersed herself in the district’s curriculum, spending her nights and weekends poring over hundreds of pages of lesson plans that she had fanned out on the coffee table in her living room and even across her bed. She was searching for...

fmstrat,

Gore rushed to share the news with the hard-liners who had encouraged her to run for the seat. She expected them to be as relieved and excited as she had been. But she said they were indifferent, even dismissive, because “it didn’t fit the narrative that they were trying to push.”

So, in the spring of 2022, Gore went public with a series of Facebook posts. She told residents that her backers were using divisive rhetoric to manipulate the community’s emotions. They were interested not in improving public education but rather in sowing distrust, Gore said.

“I’m over the political agenda, hypocrisy bs,” Gore wrote. “I took part in it myself. I refuse to participate in it any longer. It’s not serving our party. We have to do better.”

Agreed.

fmstrat,

15 minutes ago I said “have my funeral at Disneyland so people can ride roller coasters after.” This is better.

fmstrat,

What browser engine does it use? And what happens if links are clicked? Can we specify which browser and profile is opened?

fmstrat,

Do you mean Webrunner, or Chromeless?

fmstrat,

Every reviewer who signed this should post a review, but of the business practices and why not to buy the game.

fmstrat,

Nope. They would be talking about the company not the game.

fmstrat,

“It’s a game. Don’t buy from them.”

fmstrat,

We were just talking about this yesterday. What good timing.

fmstrat,

Not always, the gradient might not be good for wheelchairs, and could cost more to level when there is a full budget.

Granted this does not appear to be the case here. Desire paths will always exist, though, as the ingenuity of a subset of the many will always outweigh the few.

fmstrat,

Now tell him you need another for mirrored backups 😆

fmstrat,

Drove into VT since the forecast looked better and waited out the clouds, got a pretty good view after 2200. No major dancing of lights, but colorful streaks and of course the camera picked up way more than could be seen.

fmstrat,

Exactly like this in VT

fmstrat,

Yea we had messages from Whales with about the same.

fmstrat,

No implants until you own it, and can control what interacts with it.

fmstrat,

Despite those ties, we continued investigating AdVon, and experienced zero interference from anyone at Recurrent. That said, AdVon’s cofounder responded to questions about this story by pointedly informing us of his business and personal connections with Recurrent’s CEO and the executive chairman of Recurrent’s board, in what felt like an effort to hamper our reporting by implying access to a corridor of power over our jobs. As you’re about to read: didn’t work.

Sheash.

fmstrat,

“You’re on the faculty? You need to climb up there and take that down.”

“Absolutely not”

fmstrat,

Someone laid off the image tagger in favor of AI.

fmstrat,

The military ID cards came out after the law. The problem was they were in the works before the law passed, so an amendment should have been planned.

fmstrat,

Where’s the XMPP commenters… The floodgates will open

fmstrat,

Mind trying out WinTile and lettinge me know if it works?

fmstrat,

I wouldn’t. Better to test strategy low, then once interference is proved to exist, try the others as coconspirators so you have less to prove in that trial.

fmstrat,

The big difference here is that most Europeans would never make that drive, while an American would cherish it as a holiday.

fmstrat,

Very, very true.

fmstrat,

You’re gonna love this then:

alias gl='git log --graph --abbrev-commit --no-decorate --date=format:'''%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S''' --format=format:'''%C(8)%>|(16)%h %C(7)%ad %C(8)%<(16,trunc)%an %C(auto)%d %>|(1)%s''' --all'

I have a whole rc file full of shortcuts like this for Git and Docker.

fmstrat,

Yup, have to contribute via patches in email. That was a fun experience.

Codeberg ft[real]w. FOSS based nonprofit.

Open source e reader (lemmy.ml)

I recently got a Sony prs 600 e reader from 2009. The battery is at the end of its life (It lasts about 3 days with heavy reading, and a couple weeks without reading). No backlight, no Wi-Fi, just an SD card that I can load epub files and small PDFs. The screen is slow and the contrast isn’t the best. The “touch screen” is...

fmstrat,

You can also run KoReader on some Kindles. I have it on an old paper white.

fmstrat,

Did you… Read the article? I agree with you, but you may be thinking the headline means something it doesnt since it also agrees with you.

fmstrat,

I haven’t laughed that hard in a while.

fmstrat,

For all the work from home’ers: Bad virtual desktop. Good virtual desktop.

fmstrat,

They are saying comment OP is blaming the user for using Discord, not Discord.

fmstrat,

True but any other company with the size to do so would chuck the request in the trash until the court orders came.

fmstrat,

Not the time to be soft on him. After all, he was there for:

Wilson was filling in on the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday as it debated a Republican effort to impeach Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold. The effort failed.

Guess why.

The article also mentions three other times similar incidents happened there.

fmstrat,

If your brother shifted to Bitwarden, and is likely a lemmy user, I’d trust his opinions, too.

What apps would you love to have open-source alternatives for?

It seems like the FOSS community is continuing to grow, and FOSS apps keep getting better (Immich reallh blew my mind recently), which is a big win 😎 but there are still many apps I use that I would kill for an open source alternative. I am curious what you guys think? Are there any apps you’d love alternatives for?

fmstrat,

OsmAnd

fmstrat,

Are there cloud providers of OnlyOffice? That’s the best FOSS option IMO. LibreOffice and OpenOffice were OK, but not nearly as good.

fmstrat,

OnlyOffice works well for pptx. Reference: Used to do animated PPT in advertising.

fmstrat,

This is correct.

fmstrat,

OnlyOffice

fmstrat,

Boy is flexing and checking out his own bicep.

fmstrat,

FOSS does not mean there are no business interests. Think about Mozilla Firefox, Postgres, RedHat, etc.
