Ashyr, to games in The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion

Dawncaster on mobile. An expansion comes out tomorrow and it’s the first mobile dlc I’m legitimately excited to throw money at. Excellent developers with an excellent game. Think Slay the Spire, but designed for mobile.

Caves of Qud on Steam Deck. It’s been a few years since I last played and it’s very different from what I remember. Combo that with using a controller for the first time and it’s been an enjoyable but challenging experience.

Hell Let Loose on PC. This may be my favorite multiplayer shooter of all time. I was a competitive counterstrike player back in 1.6 (Cal-M), so unseating those memories is an incredible achievement. It’s just so good.

The learning curve is steep and there’s plenty of room for frustration, but once you’re over that hump it’s legitimately a terrific experience.

Ashyr, to canada in Judges dismiss Jordan Peterson’s request to challenge order he undergo media training

He seems like the spokesperson for confidently incorrect.

Ashyr, to games in "The Supreme Court will not hear Epic and Apple’s appeals. That leaves things mostly an Apple win. But with one court order for Apple to allow developers to point users to external payment methods."

Isn’t that a devastating loss for Apple? Every developer just makes their app free with unlocks hosted on their website.

Ashyr, to games in Against The Storm v1.1 update is out, improving early game variety and bringing a lot of QoL features

Factorio is exemplary, but hardly genre creating. They’re just base building games.

If anything has defined the genre for the modern generation it’s Dwarf Fortress.

Ashyr, to games in Deep Rock Statistics! 2023 by the numbers

I love these annual factoid updates. Deep Rock Galactic is one of my most played games on steam, but I’ve taken almost the entirety of the season off. Hopefully I’ll be back next season.

Ashyr, to games in Reigns: Three Kingdoms | Out Now on Nintendo Switch and PC

Did this ever get updated? It was glitchy and inconsistent on iOS. I love the idea of a Three Kingdoms experience for Reigns, but it was not well done when it was first released.

Ashyr, to games in Eurogamer readers' top 50 games of 2023

Starfield at 7 seems a bit optimistic, even for paid advertising.

Ashyr, to games in Geometry Dash - Update 2.2 is out now!

Ashyr, to gaming in Creative Assembly apologises for "missteps" with Total War series, offers Pharaoh refunds

From the article, it sounds like their dlc have been overpriced with limited content and Pharaoh just seems bad?

Anyone closer to the issue know what the missteps have been?

Ashyr, to games in Path of Exile 2 Developer Interview

I don’t have time to watch now, but I’m very interested. If anyone watches and has anything to share, let me know.

Ashyr, to games in Epic is giving away 17 games as part of its holiday sale

It has three expansions bundled with it. I’ve never played, but it’s my understanding that these three expansions represent the initial must-buy content.

Ashyr, to games in DayZ releases statement

Ten year anniversary.

Ashyr, to games in Superb survival city-builder Against the Storm is finally finished and released

Honestly, you’re wandering into prescriptive vs descriptive grammar on this one. How we use words changes over time. For example, it’s not nearly as big of a deal to to end sentences with a preposition anymore.

No need to be pedantic, the meaning is clear.

Addicting, especially for non-professional usage, is perfectly fine these days.

But I tend to be a descriptionist.

Ashyr, to games in Lego Fortnite has 1.5 million concurrent players and 2.4 million peak player count

I’ve not heard of it till now, but Lego would actually make the building mechanics make sense.

A clever crossover.

I assume it’s pretty good, based on the player count?
