buzz86us,

Why didn’t they do the poly bags with the dispenser instead… This seems a huge waste TBH

wolfpack86,

It’s spelled mammaries

lnxtx,

Mmmm, microplastics. Even the tray is for single use.

JackLSauce,

The high schools in Putnam County, FL were like this at least when I was a kid as a way to “keep costs low”

My dad unironically told me they added a paved road recently to show things are improving

Omgboom,

Canada must be stopped

rbesfe,

You can pry my milk bags from my cold dead body

Vespair,

This post smells like maple

then_three_more,

As a non American, what the actual fuck?

No no no no no, NO

Do NOT lump us in with this bullshit

This is Canada’s sin. The US does some fucked up shit, but this is a line even we wouldn’t dare cross.

ECB,

I had these during kindergarten (in the 90s) in the US, but they replaced them with cartons by the time I got to first grade.

Which is good because none of us 5 year Olds could operate them

Sadrockman,
@Sadrockman@sh.itjust.works avatar

Went to my kids school for a lunch with your kids thing and as a grown adult I couldn’t operate them either. A vertical bag like Capri sun would make sense,but this is just stupid.

rbesfe,

This isn’t a standard Canadian milk bag, we still use cartons for sizes this small

DragonTypeWyvern,

The infection is spreading?!??!

wolfpack86,

Had them in North Carolina in the 2000s

Sadrockman,
@Sadrockman@sh.itjust.works avatar

Also in ky in the 2000s as well

Fester,

Just as nature intended

I recall the first time I saw these as a kid when visiting my mother in Alberta. I hated them then and I’m not sure it’s changed since then. Haven’t seen them in BC.

Xatolos,
@Xatolos@reddthat.com avatar

Having lived in Alberta since 2001 and never seeing it there, when was that?

I did grow up with them in Ontario though.

WashedOver,
@WashedOver@lemmy.ca avatar

I like to say a little before that time but it was in the early 80s

altasshet,

We had this in Switzerland for a while, but it wasn’t very popular.

ChaoticNeutralCzech,

Milk used to be sold like this in Czechoslovakia too. Not sure about other Eastern Bloc countries.

fallingcats,

In Austria too, in the 70s and 80s I believe

TallonMetroid,
@TallonMetroid@lemmy.world avatar

San Francisco used bagged milk instead of cartons at least during the late 90s and early 00s. For obvious reasons, I have no idea if that’s still the case.

wreckedcarzz,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, we all remember the great sinking of SF in 2013. Such a tragedy. Unaware folk still try to cross the golden gate bridge southbound just to drown. Google really should fix that. You can see the very peak of the transamerica building in the new bay. But it did a booming housing business for palo alto and oakland.

Or were you referring to the gay penis milking movement of '06? That was a fun time, indeed…

TootSweet,

super confused American noises
