Wow what a surprise from the country that Prescott Bush tried to over throw in a Nazi coup, established the OSS/CIA to overthrow governments, then his son George HW Bush became president after running the CIA and then his son stole an election by manipulating the courts and then totally altered the entire character of US society post 9/11

ChowJeeBai,

Is this the one married to the one he can’t remember when praising his family?

OldWoodFrame,

This is the least worrying Trump family entanglement. Trump’s daughter was a senior advisor in the White House. His son in law was “in charge of Mid East Peace” and got a huge investment from Saudi Arabia right after leaving office. His sons ran the family company while campaigning for him including trying to build a ‘Trump Tower Moscow’ through June 2016.

taanegl,

Man, despite US politicians talking mad shit about monarchies, they sure do seem like they want a monarchy.

Chocrates,

Every other monarchy/dictatorship is bad except ours!

AdamEatsAss,

I think it’s closer to an oligarchy. Those in power know how to get others into power and they help their friends/family do so. Oh an having a lot of money helps too.

FriendBesto,

One step closer? Wrong. That line was plenty crossed when he had both his daughter pushing canned Goya goods from the WH, as a Senior Adviser(!?), and his son-in-law working in the Middle East file. Corruption or grifting? Why not a bit from colummn A and B?

werefreeatlast,

Let them eat pussy!

Thief_of_Crows,

Same idea as Chelsea Clinton speaking at 2016 DNC. Not to mention the 3 prior times a presidents son has been elected president…

Edit: One, the second Harrison, was actually the presidents grandson, not son. Also FDR was a presidents brother.

frosty99c,

FDR was a president’s brother? Which one?

Thief_of_Crows,

Nvm, I guess they’re fifth cousins, wild. I meant teddy Roosevelt.

Though Eleanor was Teddy’s niece. So apparently the first lady was more closely related than the president, lol

frosty99c,

Haha correct. I always get confused on how they’re all related too.

I also think that Taylor and Madison were second cousins or something.

HootinNHollerin,

Someone didn’t pay attention to history

poprocks,

Speaking at an event is reasonable and above board. Dictating to the chair to step down so that you can install your daughter in law and another puppet is a whole different story.

BigMacHole,

Democrats are the Swamp!

It’s the personification of Poe’s Law.

    SpaceNoodle,

It literally sounds just like my brother-in-law.

    eran_morad,

I think he’s trying to be clever and/or sarcastic. It falls flat. Alternative explanation: he could just be an idiot.

    Hmm.

So she was the “Ally” that wanted to pay daddy’s legal bills.

    ghostdoggtv,

Of course. She thinks they’ll be royalty if they survive this.

    Hobbes_Dent,

    They will be.

    LEDZeppelin,

They already are. When was the last time a political party paid legal bills for….checks notes….sexual assault by their leader?

    Clinton.

I’ll get down voted for this, but we have a problem with legacies.

    • Bush and Bush 2.
    • Bill and Hillary. There was talk of Chelsea.
    • Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy…sa-wing batter.
    • Roosevelts.
    • Rand and Ron Paul.

    – I’m forgetting many, I am sure. It’s just a nepo thing here in Murika.

    Neato,

That’s not what that is. It’s 2 factors that combine into something very visible.

    1. Children often follow in their parents footsteps career-wise. You can see it most obviously in politics and acting where names are important and they are highly visible. It carries on from age-old styles of hereditary work. You see parents do something as you grow up and if you try to do that you have built-in teaching and potentially a network to rely on. Bakers, scientists, actors, etc. It all works the same.
    2. Name recognition. When you get the above, it becomes really easy to notice the same names. That can encourage followers to follow the name, assuming you’ll get similar things and quality. Look at Stephen King’s kid: while he’s good he gets attention simply because people think he will write as well as his dad. In politics you get that in spades where candidates live and die by their names and reputation. You see a Clinton, Kennedy, etc and remember the past and expect it. It takes a lot to break that expectation.

What in the hell do you think nepotism or legacies are?

    Neato,

Giving people jobs they didn’t earn. Using people’s name recognition to suggest you might be good isn’t nepotism. Unless you think children should be disallowed from entering the same field or have to change their names? I think King’s kid tried that to distance himself and it didn’t work.
