As long as you don’t show your alien lover any federation tech you should be fine with any boots knocking. Even if they’re prewarp.
Telodzrum, It’s a form of survivorship bias and availability heuristic. All the times a ship goes to a planet and doesn’t do anything because of the Prime Directive would make for a terrible episode. We don’t get to see every day the Enterprise is just cruising around doing mundane shit.
