You’re not alone, I think most people already forgot about it. In a way it’s a good thing, because with low expectations it’s much harder to end up in a situation like No Man’s Sky or Cyberpunk 2077 where the expectations were unachievably high.

I agree with the first impression aspect and I believe it’s important to get the release right because of it, but the phrase deliberately implies a bad game will always be bad which just isn’t true. “Bad impressions are forever” would be more accurate.

I know this is unrelated to the post, but honestly I’m just frustrated whenever Steam sends or shows anything related to the Steam Deck to me. If I click on the damn link they show me it’s “lol you ain’t in the US, get fucked bozo, better luck next life”. Like, why even bother showing me ads? The gameplay looks somewhat bog standard, but I love the attention to detail and the audio design is very well made as well, it’s very immersive to say the least. The healing and weapon animations give me FarCry 2 vibes, it also has that same “tech demo” feeling with all the physics interactions, I miss that era of the 2000s when some games were very obvious tech demos for a studio’s new game engine like FarCry, Half-Life 2, Crysis, Doom 3 and so on…
