CordanWraith,

Hell yes. Second best star wars games ever made after the Kotor games. Instant buy for me.

CordanWraith,

All excellent choices from the ones I know. I particularly love galactic battlegrounds (also you’re the first person I’ve met that’s ever heard of it!) And Episode 1: racer.

You seem to have good taste, so I’ll check out Rogue Squadron and Phantom Menace!

And obviously these are just my opinions, I can’t fault anyone else for what they prefer.

My personal overall fav is Kotor 2. It’s so good.

CordanWraith,

Oh my god, you are a legend. Thank you so much for letting me know about these mods. I didn’t even think to check for them.

Going to have an insane amount of fun with it again!

And yeah. So many people that I recommended it to thought it was just AoE 2 again. But as you say, it actually has a ton more complexity. And the map editor and storylines were pretty awesome too.

CordanWraith,

From all I’ve seen, this is a very cool game, I’ve just never had the opportunity to play through it for myself other than a demo on the original Xbox.

I think it’s available on Steam. I’ll pick it up and give it a go!

CordanWraith,

No matter how strong he is, I can never get over how insufferable his personality and voice are

CordanWraith,

All I ever got from him was super rapey vibes. Nothing charming about that slimeball from my perspective.

And he feigns elegance, but it never struck me as authentic. Just a manipulation technique.

CordanWraith,

Which I totally understand. But, it doesn’t make him likeable to me.

It’s like in the MCU Spiderman movies, how it shows Flash’s parents don’t really care about him and implies that’s why he’s a bully. Like sure, that is awful for him. But it doesn’t make him not a bully anymore, you know?

And I also don’t judge other people that do like him, to each their own. Just for me, his entire personality and character is like nails on a chalkboard.

CordanWraith,

Not a shame, imo. Any remake would ruin it by changing things, I’m glad this has happened as you are right that the games are the best star wars stories. They’re also my favourite games in general, especially TSL.

CordanWraith,

No, I doubt it. Because they wouldn’t keep it true to the originals. They’d change the characters and the story and cut out sections and add in new things and replace the combat and make it fundamentally not the same game anymore. Especially when it’s not being made by the original makers.

Also, graphics aren’t a selling point for me in games.

CordanWraith,

What hardware are you running on? Pure vanilla and I’ve gotten a stable 100fps since release with everything on Ultra at 1440p.

CordanWraith,

Damn, our hardware is so similar. I’m running a (single) 7900 XT and a 7600X. I’m also running on an nvme ssd, but presumably with your hardware you are too.

I wasn’t trying to be an ass with my question about your specs, it’s just that my hardware isn’t particularly high end, so I was confused at why so many people are having performance issues.

CordanWraith,

if you like how those mods are opinionated. I personally hate SkyUI as it’s hideous and would take the base game anyday.

CordanWraith,

I had the complete opposite experience, yes his VA does an incredible job, but I can’t stand the character himself, personally.

CordanWraith,

I’ve been having a ton of fun with it. I’ve only played 4 hours so far, but it’s definitely the smoothest Bethesda game in terms of performance and animations, also in my experience not many bugs. Playing on a 1440p monitor with a 7900XT and I get pretty consistent 100fps (my monitor freaks out if I raise the hz higher than 100 so can’t tell how high it’ll go).

In terms of gameplay, space combat is reasonably entertaining and flying the ship is fairly well thought out. Whilst you can’t fly directly between planets like in Elite Dangerous, the primary purpose of ship control is combat and it does fairly well. On my computer, loading screens are pretty much instant, so travelling between planets isn’t a problem. Combat is fairly fun, and the AI behaviour has been much improved from previous Bethesda games. Still not always perfect but they do behave more naturally. Environmental storytelling also has a much larger presence again, with a lot of interactions and things to read. Also, this really fulfils my fantasy of being just a citizen in a sci-fi world. Walking around my ship, seeing the little bathroom and crew chambers, it’s really cool, it feels very lived in and really makes it feel like you’re an explorer on the fringes of space, living out of a ship.

There are a lot of comparisons with No Man’s Sky, but honestly I feel they’re completely different games, by design. Starfield is more Bethesda’s take on a Mass Effect style game.

Anyway, people have a lot of mixed opinions, but I’ve been loving it!

CordanWraith,

Logically this is a solid move for them, but I always hate to see more games on Unreal. Consolidation of the industry into one engine is not good overall, and any company that still works with its own engine I have a lot of respect for.
