Why Megadonors Are Unfazed by Donald Trump’s Guilty Verdict | Money flowed into the former president’s re-election campaign from Wall Street and Silicon Valley following Thursday’s historic conviction (www.nytimes.com)

With the billionaires backing him, it’s going to be on us as individual Americans to make sure Trump doesn’t end up in the White House again. That means not just voting but talking with people around you, volunteering and donating

Saledovil,

Given Trump’s track record for keeping contracts, let alone promises, I doubt he has a good track record with returning favors.

Saledovil,

What about the guy who’s space yacht you stole. Was he another player or an NPC? If he was another player, will he have to buy a new space yacht for real money?

Saledovil,

Thanks for your reply. Are his insurance premiums going to go up?

Saledovil,

I think it is called the network effect. People are still using Twitter because the messages they want to see are being posted there, and those messages are being posted there because that’s where the audience is. So, basically, people are locked in.

This also means that any loss in user count has a double effect, as not only users are lost, but the utility of the service for the remaining users decreases. So, what I’m saying is, if Elon continues this way, at some point there will be a large exodus of users from Twitter, as each loss of users reduces the utility of Twitter further, triggering a chain reaction.

Of course, we can’t know when that happens, and since we’re both on Lemmy, we’ve already self-selected as people with little tolerance for enshittification.

Saledovil,

The thing with live services is, they take so much of the user’s time that there can only be a handful of successful live service games at a time. So any company that thinks that they can just push out a live service game and make tons of money is mistaken. Of course, any CEO who doesn’t want to make live service games will need to explain to their shareholders why not. Easy explanation when you’re a small company, as they can just say that they don’t have the manpower needed. But a big company doesn’t have that excuse.

Saledovil,

White letters on light brown wood texture (trailer on steam at 0:07). Also, the big “Press E to talk” looks heinous. Plus you don’t have full control over where it appears, at one point in the trailer (0:42), it’s on white background. Going by the trailer, you’re trying to make the game look like the product of a inexperienced amateur, while the game itself is actually a subversive masterpiece, similar to the doom mod “MyHouse.wad”. Hats off to you if you manage to pull it off, but if not, you’ll have fallen flat on your face. Metaphorically, of course.

Saledovil,

Sony likely won’t try a blanket requirement again, however, they could try to do some kind of stealthy rollout, where non PSN players just get more and restricted to annoy them into signing up for PSN.

Japanese indie dev tells randoms begging for keys and offering exposure to 'buy it, you piece of garbage' (www.pcgamer.com)

In a recent FAQ spotted by Automaton, Housenka responded to a hypothetical of “I’ll promote you, give me a Steam key” with a delightfully blunt: “Buy it, you piece of garbage.” Or, as Automaton translates it from the original Japanese, “Buy the game, you piece of sh*t.” I can’t decide which I like better,...

Saledovil,

Also because the buyer is going to complain in public and leave out the fact that they bought their key at a sketchy key reseller.

Original Fallout lead Tim Cain loves the new show, but remains baffled by how 'destructive' fans can act toward 'people who are trying to create things' (www.pcgamer.com)

Cain appreciated the performances and storytelling, but singled out how the show nailed the Fallout “vibe” as its biggest achievement. “I was just looking at all the props,” he said of one scene. “I realized after a few minutes went by that I had not followed the dialogue at all, because I was so engrossed by it...

Saledovil,

“Woke” used to mean “Aware of systemic social issues”, but has been co-opted by the right to mean “Anything we don’t like”. So, anybody who unironically uses it in the new context is not worth taking seriously. To tell them apart, try asking them how they define “woke”.

Saledovil,

I don’t quite understand what you’re saying. Could you elaborate what you mean with “Doing your first level first or your last level last is absolute rookie shit.”?

Saledovil,

Anybody bet on ‘become the space equivalent of the SCP foundation’?

Saledovil,

The only thing a malicious host can do is to omit information, which can be mitigated simply by using more than one host, which is still cheaper than using a blockchain. You could have each signature include the previous one, which will allow anybody to verify that they have a complete prefix of the history. Host them on, say Imgur and Imgchest, and it would even be free, whereas hosting it on say the ethereum blockchain would cost about 10$ per image (Based on this: etherscan.io/gastracker#costTxAction. I’m lowballing my estimate. If its too high, please tell me by how much, and how you arrived at your number.)

In other words, even in the best case scenario, using the blockchain would only provide negligible benefits compared to much cheaper alternatives.

Saledovil,

You can find him by typing the first line of his post into a search engine.

Saledovil,

I’m a bit out of the loop on this one, what else did this game do bad?

Saledovil,

So what are the misconceptions flying around?

Saledovil,

It’s the alternative to cutting your pinky finger off.

Saledovil,

There’s even an example of that with a related cult, the Bed Bath and Beyond guys. Said company went under, but the memestock holders still continued the copium.

Saledovil,

A lot of these microtransactions are designed to prey on vulnerable individuals, at the expense of making the games worse for those who don’t pay. It’s an exploitative business model that should be outlawed.

Saledovil,

There’s also a good chance the so called ‘whale’ isn’t actually that financially well off, and is being manipulated by the game into spending more than they can actually afford.

Saledovil,

It’s a typical sign that the game lacks polish.

Saledovil,

Mods that violate public order and morals cause PR damage.

Counterpoint: literally nobody is blaming Bethesda for the stuff you can find on Loverslab.

Saledovil,

It will run at a glorious 60fph.

Saledovil,

I must admit that I didn’t do any research, my previous comment was meant as a joke.

Saledovil,

I wonder what I did wrong on the delivery of the joke.

Saledovil,

As much as the ESRB fucking sucks ass and can go burn, at least it isn’t a government agency and has to at least play nice enough with the industry and consumers in general.

I don’t think any industry can really be trusted to self-regulate in the long term.

Saledovil,

The last triple A game I bought at launch was ‘Watchdogs Legion’, to comemorate my new PC. I figured I just build a new computer, so why not celebrate by buying an expensive game. It was a stupid impulse buy.

Why did she have to drag oat milk into this 😭 (sopuli.xyz)

Alt text: LinkedIn post If you really knew me you’d know I think oat milk is a scam. Check the ingredients - it’s oil and carb sludge, not worth it on a daily basis. Similar to applying to jobs online, it’s tempting but basically crap. Just because everyone is doing it doesn’t mean it’s the best or healthiest strategy....

Saledovil,

I’d like to add: Take note how the dot before the com is in brackets. This is likely to confuse spam filters.

Saledovil,

The best PR move for Unity at this point would be to fire their CEO. Preferably out of a cannon.

Saledovil,

There’s a social cost associated with buying it, namely, that you support live service games. So please don’t buy it.

Saledovil,

Well, what would actually happen in this scenario is that he’d not be able to afford the 10,000$ a week, and get into debt, likely overdraft charges, at 20% interest a year. As a result, he’d soon be so far in the whole, that he’d have no chance of ever accumulating any sort of wealh.

For real, though, I’m unsure what even is the point of this post? Is this some sort of anti universal basic income propaganda?
