Oh for sure. When I joined, servers and communities dedicated to specific countries or even cities had a bit of activity. Used to see a lot of German, Austrian, french, Dutch, Australian and NZ content in my feed. Now only the Germans and Australians, sometimes.

Common misconception and many of us don’t like being portrayed that way. We are not half this, half that. We are our own thing.

Many define bi as “attraction to more than one gender” and that’s it.

Many folks like all genders. But for example some folks only like their own gender and enbys. Your definition would exclude those people. We do not like excluding people.

Buy you are immensely rude. Denying peoples own definitions of sexuality and gender is rude.

You say that liking enbies makes someone heterosexual. Which is wrong on multiple levels. I as a man can only be heterosexual if I exclusively am attracted to women.

And enbies are not women, even if AFAB. They are neither man nor woman, that’s what makes them non-binary, that’s the point.

I have worded my definition of my sexuality badly, you are right. What I am trying to say is that I am not straight if I am not exclusively attracted to “the opposite” gender. If I am also attracted to my own gender, and ones outside the spectrum, I can’t be hetero.

I’m just sick of bi erasure in queer communities, being belittled by being called “half gay, half straight”. Or even “oh you’re just a cishet who wants to fit into queer spaces”.
No. I am bi. Not half this, half that, not pretending. Maybe pan if one wants to follow strict definitions.

I genuinely did not know about people who define themselves as non-binary men or women, could you help me understand? That breaks all I’ve learned from the admittedly few enby people I know, whose entire goal was not being binary.

I know you’re joking, but KDE is much more than just a Linux desktop environment. They make all sorts of software working on all sorts of operating systems. I use Kdenlive on windows for example. And 90% of browsers nowadays use a fork of KDEs KHTML rendering engine.

Cybersecurity costs would also likely go down due to most malware being exploited isn’t targeting desktop Linux.

Which is going to change once any sort of widespread adoption happens.

But at least in my circles, malware really isn’t that big of a deal in security. Phishing is where the danger is these days, where the costs occur.

These train displays haven’t changed in probably 30 years here. Vienna also has a bunch ofthese public clocks on big intersections and squares.

But that’s the thing. When that Video was made, almost all of the advertising was focused on the same BS the article is disagreeing with.

I remember lots of NordVPN ads by uninformed nontechnical creators just reading the provided script. Saying that Balaklava wearing hackers will steal your credit card data just by being in the same cafe as you, and only an expensive VPN subscription can protect you from that. Or that only using a VPN will protect you from malware.

This sort of advertising is what Tom Scott critizied back then. IIRC he even said that there are real use cases, but that you shouldn’t believe the fearmongering. Same as the article.

The fearmongering advertising was the problem, not advertising the service itself.

Games used to take a looong time to load before flash storage, so people would go get a coffee or something while loading. Before main menus, it would just drop you into the game while you were away, potentiality missing something. So they added the “press any key” pause to wait until you’re back.

For some reason they kept this until today.
