Hasn’t changed US foreign policy for decades, so yeah probably not. From arming to giving Israel protection in the UN, the US is all in on Palestinian genocide. The US does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC because the court could be used for “political reasons”. This goes back to the creation of the ICC, which the Clinton admin helped to form but then vote against. Israel, Russia, Israel, China, Libya, and Qatar are the only countries who do not recognize the jurisdiction of the court. There is a through line on why they don’t: it is because of what they have already done and continue to do that would levy charges at the court. In fact the US has the American Service Members Protection Act to make cooperation with the court next to impossible.

TL:DR; the US has been complicit in Palestinian genocide since Eisenhower.

I agree, as long as we agree on definitions for non-violence and violence. Conflict and violence are ongoing for so many. Violence is divestment in certain neighborhoods, policing, food apartheid, lack of safe water, lack of schools, lack of healthcare, increased job precarity, lack of infrastructure and public transit. There is a lot of violence but perhaps you don’t agree on the violence that is already here and resolutely ignored by those in power.

His politics have shifted of late.

He has defended Boris Johnson when he made an islamophobic dog whistle joke about Muslim women wearing burqas.

He values speech over protecting people. He complains about cancel culture running amok. The subject has some nuance but when defending comedians saying “its just a joke”, its really really shitty. Hamas is the elected head of a stateless people who’s land was stolen by Europeans. You label them terrorists, I label them as justified warriors for the land and genocide to which they have been subjugated.

This isn’t a both sides argument, as western media tries again and again to frame every fucking story. This is the oppressed fighting back.

Terrorist labels aren’t used for armed forces protecting settlers as they rampage Palestinian villages. Terrorist labels aren’t used as hospitals are leveled. Terrorist labels aren’t used when they drop leaflets to tell civilians to move to a place to avoid getting shelled and then SHELLING that place. Terrorist labels aren’t used when a large percentage of children of a whole People grow up without parents because of mass murder. Terrorism isnt used for the decades of genocide. Decades.

Terrorist labels get used when those children become adults and respond how most of us would respond to the conditions of the open air prison in which they reside and will likely die early. Why on earth would you expect them to be peaceful?

Wut. This is journalism doing its job. Police are pretty bad at their jobs, prosecutors included. They often can’t be bothered to seek charges. So when someone else did after some quality journalism, that proved there was enough evidence to indict. Just because they botched the criminal case does not mean he didn’t do it.
