The marginalized groups were always marginalized. By definition they can only become not marginalized (e.g. women voting, repealing Jim Crowe, marriage equality).
What are you doing each day when you’re not on your keyboard? The party represents the constituents. People are naive to the zero sum game stakes at hand. So they vote themselves into DNC positions. They’re just people. Like you and me.
Not bootlicking, just reading the letter of the law. I read this more as “don’t be a total dick about it” so I’d love to hear a contract attorney’s take on this.
Lol I don’t think the sides are the same in any way shape or form for the reasons you mention and more. I’ll vote the hell out of a full DNC ballot any day any time. I’m lucky to be in SF where even within the mainstream party, local and state offer progressive options, so I haven’t had to vote third party much over the years.
My point was the above comment was like “I’m not gonna do this thing” “okay, so I’m doing this thing” “and now my point is proven bc I didn’t do the thing” Have you seen the Rick James couch skit on Chappelle? It’s like that.
Appreciate your comment. I’m the first to point out using an irrelevant post as a soapbox to distract from other news. I’m pointing out the difference in response from the online community over the past two years.
I logged on after reading about the ceasefire, just to look for articles here, where the comments will inevitably say it’s not enough and they’re electing Trump bc they’re so far left.
Then they wouldn’t be the US and EU’s middle East military base. Why do you think they have the money and weapons? To fight proxy wars and keep opec in check.
A lot of motherfuckers, ignoring the article as usual to grandstand, whining they were called out for antisemitism, instead of acknowledging anything in the article. Priorities noted, lemmy.
Ummm… staying home not voting against Trump, is welcoming his election. You flip flopped on this comment from acknowledging the difference but in the end throw your hands up offering, “but that won’t happen anyway, they’ll vote Biden” … I don’t think they will, and staying home to do so is a .5 vote for red team. It’s just the math of elections. Staying home with your vote is still not casting it for the not evil orange dictator
And elect Trump. Cool. Nice principles. Hope they keep you warm in the camps while you watch your family dragged away and killed. Or maybe it will be your neighbors and not your problem bc you’re not a target demographic. Yet. Thanks for your service hero. You’re affecting change with all your logic and practical action.
I didn’t do that. I vote DSA. I primary’d Pelosi. I’m accepting the current situation and trying to make change where there’s no risk of elimination of any possible future change (allowing fascism in the oval office).
So how does electing Trump, whoever of us do it, make things better? What’s your proposal? Besides not voting for Biden, what are you doing?
What viable presidential candidates? Stop imagining. Take over your state and local govt, your lower federal house seats, your Senate seats, in that order, and then let’s talk. It’s silly to think you can hit a grand slam bases loaded bottom of the 9th when you’ve never trained and successfully got a base hit.

Damnit. If I didn’t read this just now after dragging my kid on 10 miles of hikes (with his Spidey water bottle!) the last few days, you’d have just given me a plan for today! 😁
But yeah… 100% doing that this weekend in his Spidey gear.

These are Russian talking points under the guise of practical middle path. Fuck you. Slava Ukraine. Don’t blame them for fighting back and ignoring the fact foreign boots equal Putin’s finger on the button. “Just give them a little farming land, the locals want it”
Understood. I’m never going to do that, unless I’m overtly using sarcasm, so apologies for appearing to be provocative for the sake of it.
I probably misread your previous comment, now that I’m seeing you elaborate. I apologize for the vitriol, ending Russian genocide and terrorism of the free world is emotional for me.
We pretty much agree. That tone is just very apologist IMHO. Like abuse victim language - “look, you’re right, wife, it sucks I’m attacking you but if everyone else didn’t put me in this situation, I wouldn’t be slapping you around” - it’s an extreme example for simplicity but I hope it’s not such a stretch that my point is lost.
