Even if it’s a nice solution the licensing issue, they are still deceiving their users. I don’t think I have seen anything like them but they should be clear that they are bluetooth.
Same goes for words in foreign languages. it just causes confusion. I like how eclipse went for “temurin” (anagram for runtime) for their OpenJDK distribution. no way to cause confusion.
is this really an emulator in the traditional sense? (implementing certain hardware architecture using software) or are they just implementing some software to read and run games in the host hardware? I would be very surprised if this was a true emulator, but I have no idea about the current scenario.
The department joined 16 states and the District of Columbia to file a significant challenge to the reach and influence of Apple, arguing in an 88-page lawsuit that the company had violated antitrust laws with practices that were intended to keep customers reliant on their iPhones and less likely to switch to a competing device....
As far as I can tell this basically means that all apps must be approved by Apple to follow their “platform policies for security and privacy” even if publishing on a third party app store. They will also disable updating apps from third party app stores if you stay outside the EU for too long (even if you are a citizen of...
actually, it doesn’t. It is now just “HP inc.” Sole years ago they split the company into HP inc and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. HP kept the PC and printing business and Hewlett Packard kept the enterprise business.
(but I get you. I just wanted to share that detail )
this is incredible common. in software offerings, an enterprise account per user can be twice or more the price of an “individual one”. eg. an individual intelliJ license is 200€ for the first year and 600€ for the enterprise one
Imagine if 99% of text messages sent were via iMessage, and the EU kept the same ruling.
If 99% of messages were sent via iMessage the ruling would have been different. if it ever fulfils the criteria needed to be considered gatekeepers, then they will be designed as such.
Im sorry but this is not correct. Most design decisions are a trade-off, you gain something but you loose something. You might argue that reparability should have a higher priority than size, but saying that you can be more repairable without gaining any size is nonsense.
it is also true that devices that are packaged as an integrated unit are less likely to experience issues. Reparability is a means toward an end (long lasting products) but not the only one way to achieve it.
Im not sure. you dont want to use anything that might disconnect easily. The battery pack does have an additional USB-C plug to ‘daisy chain’ it to other power source.
Apparently, stealing other people’s work to create product for money is now “fair use” as according to OpenAI because they are “innovating” (stealing). Yeah. Move fast and break things, huh?...
copyright has become a tool of oppression. Individual author’s copyright is constantly being violated with little resources for them to fight while big tech abuses others work and big media uses theirs to the point of it being censorship.
What’s stopping AI companies from paying royalties to artists they ripped off?
profit. AI is not even a profitable business now. They exist because of the huge amount of investment being poured into it. If they have to pay their fair share they would not exist as a business.
what OpenAI says is actually true. The issue IMHO is the idea that we should give them a pass to do it.
The status of Apple as gatekeeper in the messaging app ecosystem is not yet clear. Remember that iMessages is not really popular in Europe, and Europe wont name Apple as a gatekeeper because of imessage’s popularity in the U.S. The EU does seem to be inclined to define them as gatekeeper, but that is not yet final. and if Apple implements RCS that might get them out of the hook. see section 5.4 of this document ec.europa.eu/competition/…/DMA_100013_215.pdf
because most news outlets just call it “The EU” or “the EU parliament” without specifying that tje EU has many institutions and political parties, which push their own agendas.
if you replaced every instance of both “republicans” and “democrats” with “the US government” you would get the same kind of impression.
and then your solar panels are doing anything for you in days. you seem to have been offered a very bad deal. I suggest you find other company to analyse your case
those parts (panels, inverter) are easy to replace since all the installation has been made, and they will be cheaper than they were when you bought them. Im my case panels + inverter were about 40% of the total cost. I imagine a similar powered panel will be way cheaper in 20 years
I doubt it’s the last time. also while “PC” means personal computer, it was a very specific brand name by IBM, not a general purpose term. their computers (and clones later) became synonymous with x86-windows machines.
Even apple themselves have always distanced themselves from the term (I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC…).
I think the Mario movie did well because it is very different from most video game movies. They went for a family/humor approach instead of a serious epic/action movie. The Sonic movies are another example of this working well.
yeah but back then it was not 90% web apps. also programming languages are way better supporting both platforms. ARM is far from being a little player anymore
What I mean by this, is instead of when you fail and are met with a game over, the game finds some way to keep it going. Instead of being forced to reset to a previous save or an autosave checkpoint, the game’s story continues in an interesting path. Are there any games like this?...
I have fond memories about Prince of Persia (the 2008 incarnation). it was a beautiful game and you basically could not die. your companion (a beautiful woman, because originality) would just rescue you in the last second.
