stanka,

I want to see him American History X go in a shit-heel and come out a better person. Doesn’t seem likely, but here we are.

stanka,

Nice try Coca-Cola marketing, I’m on to you!

stanka, (edited )

Everyone wants to be on the winning team. Our brains will make up all kinds of things to rationalize what we believe.

Also, I played and beat a burned PS1 “Pepsiman”, so I’m not sure where that puts me besides old.

stanka,

I recently got out my Vic-20, which of course has a very similar keyboard. Not low-profile at all, so it really forced me to have proper typist posture.

stanka,

That was a great video. I mean for the tiny fraction of nerds that are deep enough into computer architecture and/or assembly. So like I said, great video.

stanka,

I also love to stream input data from my eye-ports. Maybe OP is a robot!?

stanka,

“Ukraine, Ukrainians”. That is some specific wording.

Anywho, bummer for those folks and I hope for world peace on all fronts.

What linux phone is closest to ready for daily use

I want to switch from android phone to linux and i want to know which phone is closest to daily driver. I only need call sms and bluetooth to work and battery should last 1 day. also working map camera and web browser app would be great. for os i have thinked to use ubuntu touch or postmarket os. Phones what i have most...

stanka,

I wonder about this too. And instead of a secondary, backup android, can’t we just emulate andoid in a vm/container under linux? Sounds crazy, but it isn’t really.

stanka,

I get what he is saying, but I loved both ‘dig’ games. Could not stand Heist, and haven’t set aside time for build.

Good on them I guess.

stanka,

I once interviewed at a (very) big usenet provider. The job was perl, I knew perl, must be fun.

No.

The job was to implement the byzantine B.S. “discounts” and plan-pricing “deals” that the sales team came up with to most effectively screw the customer.

I declined.

stanka,

superuser.com/…/pc-waking-from-sleep-for-unknown-…

It is windows, so your deep debug/fix options are limited. I’ve had some luck with the ‘powercfg’ commands disabling sleep/wake for some sources.

The other suggestion, wake timers, is probably your problem, since windows wants to stay out of your way, and in their mind that means to wake up at 3am to take updates… what could go wrong?

stanka,

Unlikely a virus, but not impossible. Just more likely to be microsoft up to their normal tricks.

You can certainly make trouble with powercfg, but doing ‘powercfg /lastwake’ is entirely informational.

stanka,

I read this as, “We don’t need con-air”, but like, how would we transport prisoners and make movies!?!

stanka,

Unfortunately the target audience is also toddlers, so it is very effective.

stanka,

If you code adding the current branch to your shell prompt will change your world.

Also, if you are getting good use out of find, you should learn to pipe the output to GNU parallel. Put those cores to work!

stanka,

Lovers in a dangerous spacetime

Whole family loved it when kids were pretty little, they still live it now that the kids are teens.

stanka,
