Twilight Town, a cyberpunk boomer shooter about a guy wanting to give a body to his AI gf.

Great, funny RPG that was ignored because it launched near the disruptive Disco Elysium.

Also triggers ancaps, even though you can join the company’s side.

So sad seeing all these games, all that creativity, sacrificed for a sixth installment.

@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not just GTA V, there’s also references to Bully 2, and Rockstar has been all hands on deck for their open world mega games since V blew up, last month a former employee talked about how Agent was cancelled for being a distraction from GTA.

Epic’s CEO has a hateboner for everything Linux.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This is precisely why everyone is so skeptical of it.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I guess we just shouldn’t make any law about anything since people can go “well akshually” about it. /s

Yep, I’m not in the EU but thanks to the GDPR I still see the cookies thing on almost every website I go, sometimes these things have a good ripple effect.

If there’s a behavior psychologist/researcher involved in the creation of a product, it’s evil, simple as. Those gacha games absolutely use them.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

But think about the CEO’s freedom of abusing gambling addicts outside of a safe environment with virtually no regulation and that can be used by kids and teens!

I actually wouldn’t have anything against gacha games if they all were marked as Adult-only, even the most dumbass parents would think twice about buying EA FC if it had the AO rating.

Seconding this masterpiece, the first Megaman Legends is hard to play nowadays since you need to stop to aim, but 2 introduced lock-on so it’s much more agile and dynamic, still great, replayed it last year.

I love scenery destruction, well done.

God of War Creator Is Unhappy With New Games and Kratos' Story (comicbook.com)

Despite being nominated for numerous awards and even winning Game of the Year in 2018, the creator of God of War, David Jaffe, is not a huge fan of the new direction the series has gone in. Jaffe himself hasn't worked on these new God of War games, but thinks that they're not staying true to the spirit of the character and the...

He’s not wrong, do new stuff, too many remakes and remasters nowadays.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

it’s not really needed since the only thing that has an analog stick that it can emulate is a PS1.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I already liked the game since I’m not the typical bethesda fan, “their” only game I finished was New Vegas, liked the characters and story and didn’t care that planets were empty since I played Daggerfal Unity. But I don’t think they can grab that explorer fanbase again, they are just against procedural generation in general, they probably wanted Outer Worlds but bigger.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Can’t forget the Ultra Game of the Year Turbo Deluxe Complete Anniversary edition, now with built-in mods.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I think people would hate it again, seeing how they hated Starfield that is also procedural.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Reminder that Todd wanted to release this last year, imagine the state it was in lol

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

The thing is, cyberpunk also has mod support, and it’s pretty good, I use a climbing mod, a drone mancer class mod, and before the 2.1 update it already had a metro system via mod.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I disagree, big publishers do not deserve early access, they have money to pay for QA, it’s a gross misuse of the feature.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It’s too light for my tastes, I’m hopeful for festival though since I’m a fan of harmonix

I recommend you follow Felipe Pepe’s twitter, he often talks about asian games that are ignored by the western media even though they sold millions of copies. x.com/felipepepe/status/1728297222541025358?s=20

Gamers deserve their soulless franchise trash.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I’m glad outer worlds is getting the recognition it deserves, it was drowned by the disruptive Disco Elysium but it’s still a great RPG with a great sense of humor that made billionaire fanboys mad.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Doesn’t count as console though.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Probably a PC-engine, been discovering it’s library and it’s extremely pleasing for a weeb.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This was too artificial and expensive, there wasn’t a grassroots movement to make it happen

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Never bought anything there and probably never will, but I’m always there every thursday to get the free games. Heavy gog and steam user, and gamepass subscriber.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Yes? How can you possibly deny that? Steam was able to claw a market in russia, a country famous for piracy. Gaben was right, convenience with good prices trumps everything.

yamanii,

How will scrubquotesX get content now?

Games that require you to unlock the basic functions of the game can suck my nuts.

I have recently played 3 games that have forced a lengthy, unskippable tutorial section that runs for several hours of the game, just to unlock the most basic functions like buying the items, customizing features, multiplayer, and even 2-player split screen modes....

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I think this makes sense for a RPG, why would a guns blazing character suddenly know how good he was at being stealthy? Bethesda is trying to do undo what they did with Skyrim with the hero that is a good at everything.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

Because when you people get online like in Grid, you just crash everyone else and now there’s only a handful a people racing, fun is over before the first curve.

What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises?

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Ethical/consumer reasons...

I tried over 20 Steam Next demos so that you don't have to!

And I’ve rated them all below. I’m very glad Steam decided to do a big promotional event around them- it helped point me toward a lot of games I would have never tried/heard of otherwise. Some of the good ones might not be good the entire game, but they were at least good in the demo....

@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

You really are missing something about Japanese Drift Master, solid list anyway.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

This is easily their best game post morrowind, in both story and gameplay, but I’m also not playing it anymore since it’s so cpu heavy that it’s forcing me to wait for fan patches or something; and I’m playing Cyberpunk just fine.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

I only buy from gog on the side too since the no drm policy is very pro consumer. And also the porn games are unrated via a free dlc instead of having to download it externally.

yamanii,
@yamanii@lemmy.world avatar

It’s surreal that it still is an epic exclusive, must be the only game that isn’t just a timed deal.
