Birmingham, where should I be to fully enjoy the local beer culture in your wonderful city? Asking for a friend, obviously.

I should add, it's got a broad selection of bitters, a suitably aloof pub cat and the only tv screens are the ones listing what beers are on at what pump.

One sunday evening a month they have a cheese night with interesting and unusual cheeses.

@radiophobicsherkpop @beersofmastodon I'll only have two nights in town. Not including a first Wednesday, unfortunately. But thanks, sounds good! British beer styles are hard to come by in the Netherlands, so I need to catch my fair deal!

@tastingcraftbeer @radiophobicsherkpop @beersofmastodon The Wellington is really the one you cannot miss downtown! Purity Brewing is a bit more clinical in athmosphere, but their Ubu ale is divine. Post Office Vaults is fun too, but not as many domestic taps. These are all near New St. Have so much fun / thanks a lot mate, now I miss Birmingham!

@esko @radiophobicsherkpop @beersofmastodon sorry! Thanks for the suggestions, though!

@tastingcraftbeer @beersofmastodon It’s been a number of years since I was there last, but the first one that comes to mind is Good People Brewing.

@tastingcraftbeer @beersofmastodon I’m not a beer drinker myself, but there are three breweries in Stirchley: Birmingham Brewery Company, Attic Brew Co, Glass house.

wootube,

@catnip @tastingcraftbeer @beersofmastodon 'Two Towers' tap is The Gunmaker's Arms near Aston University.

wootube,

@catnip @tastingcraftbeer @beersofmastodon The Craven Arms is now a 'Black Country Ales' pub https://www.blackcountryales.co.uk/pubs

wootube,

@catnip @tastingcraftbeer @beersofmastodon Also 'The Jewellers Arms' in The Jewellery Quarter. @sil organises a Christmas 'pub crawl'. He probably has a map.

@wootube @catnip @beersofmastodon thanks for all the suggestions!

wootube,

@tastingcraftbeer @catnip @beersofmastodon When I went to Aston University in 1978, Brum was a dead-zone for Real Ale. CAMRA ran coach true to The Black Country. It's a delight to see the improvement and share :-)
