The libs made a significant blunder with the heating oil carve out. They should have done something like a subsidy conditional on a subsidized heat pump installation. That way they’d have helped the people in need while eliminating that need in the near future along with it’s carbon cost.

DonkMagnum,

Hmmm. In BC, the provincial gov has subsidized energy-saving home upgrades for many years. Seems like other provinces have had their heads in the sand and now want my federal tax dollars as a reward?

Nouveau_Burnswick,

Premiers call on Trudeau to cancel spring carbon tax increase

Not the ones with their own carbon pricing system…

Yaztromo,

If I were purely greedy, I’d wish my Province (BC) used the Federal backstop programme most of the rest of the country is using. You guys don’t know how good you have it. I don’t get any rebate cheques from the BC Government — and as someone who was paying attention for the last 30 years I’ve done a lot to decarbonize my life, so the Federal rebate would be nearly 100% pure profit in my pocket.

Kecessa,

Exactly my thought, I wish I would get money back instead of all of it going to the government’s coffers!

Most Ontarian will receive at least $140 from the carbon price rebate, up from $122, for the next year.
