Julia Evans has great articles on everything about Internet. Recently, she started to blog about git. I don’t think those are great for beginners but they are great quality. For beginners I would recommend other texts like Atlassian guides (the company behind bitbucket, alternative to GitHub), www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials or the Game ohmygit.org
