With trial done, Trump’s Georgia case gets October news

“we learned Monday that the state appeals court has tentatively set an Oct. 4 hearing date on the defense attempt to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from Trump’s state election interference case. The trial judge, Scott McAfee, said in March that Willis could stay on the case if her special prosecutor stepped down. The prosecutor, Nathan Wade, with whom Willis had a romantic relationship, did so. But the defense still appealed McAfee’s ruling, arguing that it hadn’t cured the alleged conflict of interest and that the case itself should be dismissed.”

Edit No article on this part yet, but CNN has reported that the Georgia Appeals Court has halted this case until Fani Willis’ position can be determined, and while the HEARING is set for October, the actual RULING might not happen until March, 2025.

gravitas_deficiency,

Wow good thing there’s no point in time beyond which these court cases will just be summarily killed as a function of which way the election goes

internal screaming

shalafi,

POTUS can’t overturn state cases.

gravitas_deficiency, (edited )

Sure, but if Trump manages to win somehow, I am 100% positive that he’ll try to anyways, and he has a shitload of enablers who will follow his lead just because they like the idea of the First American Reich.

You aren’t getting it. The failure conditions of this next election is “we get a different type of government, and it’s not even remotely democratic, and likely doesn’t resemble our previous type of government much at all”.

Other grand juries, such as for the documents at Bedminster, or the Arizona fake electors, have not been announced.

The E. Jean Carroll trial for sexual assault and defamation where Trump was found liable and ordered to pay $5 million before immediately defaming her again resulting in a demand for $10 million is not listed as it’s a civil case and not a crimimal one. He was found liable in that case for $83.3 million.

There had been multiple cases in multiple states to remove Trump from the ballot, citing ineligibility under the 14th amendment.

The Supreme Court ruled on March 4th that states do not have the ability to determine eligibility in Federal elections.

Thank you so much for this. It would be nice to have a living document of this where, when you make a change, the subscribers could get a notification inviting them to see the revised picture.

Great presentation and thank you for posting the article. Have a great day!

I had to update it TWICE last night(!)

I did this one first, thought I was done, then found the Florida story!

Skepticpunk,

I wonder if you could throw a simple website up on Neocities with an RSS feed.

jordanlund,
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll look into that!

newbeni,

I mean, it just blows my mind that we are talking about an RSS feed about a former president’s criminal trials like it’s something that just needs to be done. It does need to be done, but wow.
