Does anyone know of an android map app that let’s you copy addresses? Waze is fucked and there are like 13 steps to copy it, or you can send someone an enshitification link…...
Now that we can create and delete usernames at will, do people have any concerns about giving people they meet their Signal ID? I have no fears of it. In fact, my Signal is oozic.35 if anyone wanta to message me.
signal requires a phone number to sign up. a phone number could be used to trace your signal account back to you. so why do people, especially privacy enthusiasts and experts (like edward snowden), still use it and endorse it when it lacks anonymity in that sense? i get that people could use a voip number or something to sign...
Today I was contacted by someone at work. She graduated school with me and our 20 year reunion was coming up. Why did she contact me at work? It was the only way they were able to track me down. I was included in promotional material by name. She told me I "was the hardest to track down"and I had to smile....
Recently stumbled upon this note-taking app called SiYuan, but it honestly looks a bit too good to be true(?). Has anyone here used it or got any experience with it? Trying to replace Obsidian is a difficult task, and I’ve been through almost all note-taking apps there are out there, however this one looks fairly similar....
Is it even possible on android? Is there a FOSS dialer to optionally encrypt some phone calls (non voip) using a pre-shared key with other party?
Is it fairly easy? Seems useful for a public site like Lemmy and the fediverse...
I’d like to be able to contribute financially to people/communities who run infrastructure, such as nodes, for layers like I2P and Freenet. Where do I find them, and does contributing directly to the projects themselves help in this regard?...

I’m taking a long biking trip soon and want to share my live location with my boyfriend in case something happens. Any recommendations for privacy-focused apps that can accomplish this? I’m on Android, he’s on iOS.
I’ve never been super-impressed by Rob Braxman. I mean he’s never truly wrong in what he was saying in his Youtube videos, but his explanations are over-simplistic, a bit of a shortcut (but fair enough to reach a wide audience I guess), and mostly designed to sell his meh deGoogled cellphones and equally meh privacy...
Context: my gf mentioned getting a vpn for privacy, and I tried to explain that it “does” help, but it’s more like type of windows on a house. It certainly can be part of the package, but it’s no where near the foundation....
Should I be worried about this development?...
Given the extistence of technologies like Monero and SimpleX chat, I wonder if it is possible for a truly anonymous content sharing platform to exist? And does it?...
Hiya, so quickly wondering wether you have enabled this or not. Obviously it’s not great for privacy, but it also seems very nice to have for image cloud solutions, so that images can be sorted based on location. Are there any good solutions for this? I’d like have it enabled, but also afraid of sharing images with sensitive...
Has anyone ever done this by going to the website of a data broker and using their opt out form?...
Looking for solutions to delete/opt out as much as i can from GAFAMs and other chinese closed-sources stuff … im a noob and i feel lost right now … would this be a good idea? gitlab.com/W1nst0n/universal-android-debloater/...
I’m looking for a watch that is able to do basic “smart” things like show notifications and ping my phone if I misplace it. A timer/stopwatch would also be good, and a long lasting battery....
I’m talking full phone and blocking. Not just browser....
U2F keys can be purchased online for the price of a cup of coffee. They’re being touted as the next best thing in online security authentication....
My main laptop is dead, so I’m on a potato laptop with a 6th gen Intel i3 processor and 4GB of RAM. I have IceCat installed, but I really don’t like the defaults it provides....
If the owner of the standard notes will now be a proton, doesn’t that contradict this principle? I have a proton email account but I don’t want it linked to my standard notes account. I don’t strongly trust companies that offer packaged services like google or Microsoft. I prefer to have one service from one company. I am...
Folks, I have finally figured it out....
I know the prevailing sentiment for a long time in the privacy community has been “DAE Youtube bad?” though I have always thought that it is kinda overblown. Besides, I am using Firefox which is supposed to isolate tabs so they can’t speak to each other, so I felt a small amount safer using Youtube....
