GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in How often do you contribute to open source projects?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Unfortunately never. I’m no Linux programmer and I have no idea how to use that space-shuttle-cockpit-shaped menu for crowd translation

GolfNovemberUniform, to privacy in I am genuinely horrified to see how much data google collected from me
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Fortunately you can degoogle many Android phones. And stop using big tech products in general. They have a lot of issues, not only a complete lack of privacy

Wait I thought DNF is the slow one. Is zypper even worse?

@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

I think it depends on kernel/software/driver versions and will vary when these change. Also bloatware is a thing, even though it doesn’t affect the results very significantly

GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in Alacritty, Konsole, or something else? Which terminal emulator do you recommend?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

It’s always faster after a few runs. But in my case it’s like 10 seconds faster. Though I have an old HDD so maybe that’s the reason lol

I wouldn’t recommend Fedora for NVidia users because it wants to be Wayland-only. The introduction is quite good though

Yea I agree. We need more distros tested

Yea I don’t understand either

GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in Why does distrowatch keep going down every now and then?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

It was just a joke

GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in Alacritty, Konsole, or something else? Which terminal emulator do you recommend?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

From my experience, you only really need it when you want to get a lot of output (try find /). In my cases it’s more than 2 times faster on GPU accelerated terminal emulators. And I believe you can’t display images on non-accelerated ones

@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

It’s just folks at microsoft are trying not to let people switch by ddosing the website. Nothing out of ordinary

GolfNovemberUniform, (edited ) to linux in Inspiron One 2305 has corrupted graphics after coming out of suspend
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Try X11 session. Usually it fixes it. If it doesn’t, well, it’s a compatibility issue

GolfNovemberUniform, to linux in Alacritty, Konsole, or something else? Which terminal emulator do you recommend?
@GolfNovemberUniform@lemmy.ml avatar

Kitty but only if you don’t mind configuring everything in a config file. It has GPU acceleration so it will be faster than Konsole when showing 300+ lines of output on older hardware. Alacritty had a lot of issues on my installations so can’t recommend it
