"Just to meet business-as-usual trends, 115% more copper must be mined in the next 30 years than has been mined historically until now," the study said.
My recent realization is that the very high-end of the GPU market is totally unnecessary. A 4070 can play practically any game at 4K with decent framerates. And if you are fine with just "high" settings instead of maxed out, at very good framerates too.
It's secretly benefiting the smaller game studios because Microsoft is basically giving up marketshare. The real question is whether MS wants to buy any more studios.
In recent times, triple-A publishers have repeatedly had their lunch eaten — at least, in terms of mindshare — by more creatively nimble indies. Lethal Companywas last holiday season’s breakout hit, andPalworld followed not long after. https://aftermath.site/the-nerve-of-balatro-for-being-this-goodand...
MS is ironically breaking up several big publishers and creating a slew of small, independent game studios. Basically out of their own incompetence. It silently heralds a new and hopefully much better era in gaming.
Also, it's time to seriously wonder about the future of the Xbox console. It seems hopeless at this point. It probably has too small of a marketshare to justify any exclusives, even first-party ones. You wonder when MS will have to just admit that it is a PC in a box, and begin selling it as one.
Honestly, Microsoft bought them because they thought it can magically catapult them to #1 in the gaming industry. And they have, in a sense. The advantage of having so much money that you can buy your way into the industry. But the problem is that Microsoft has no idea what to do next.
It’s the 12VHPWR connector that’s melting. The problem is that it is much smaller than the connector it replaces, while also sending much more power. Without very careful engineering of the design, something like this was inevitable.
In fact, in 2023, five old games—Fortnite, Roblox, League of Legends, Minecraft, and GTA V—accounted for 27% of all playtime in the year.
This is pretty much what we expected. Games are not like movies where everyone has to watch the latest ones. People play what they like, which is usually dominated by a few highly successful games.
Cheating of this sort is almost always about someone who is already very good at the game. But it's simply not enough. They want to be the greatest, or do the impossible. They want to be legends instead of just being really good. And usually the only way to do that is to cheat.
This is the same conversation we had throughout the entire rumorwave about this project: Who is going to buy this and which developers will actually anything worthwhile with the new hardware? Because all signs points to an expensive console (at least $600) with the only upgrades being a slight graphical bump and higher resolution. There are no new gameplay features.
I think people would be much more happy with a smaller, more power efficient version of the PS5 instead.
Graphics are no longer a major selling point in most cases. Most people would be fine with a good game that works and isn't saddle with microtransactions, even if it means it will look somewhat worse.
I’m about 8 hours into Death Stranding Director’s Cut, and I just can’t do this. I love the meditative, lonely feel of the gameplay, and I’m always down for a bonkers and absurd Kojima story. I truly hope future games implement a similar traversal system where you really need to watch your footing. But this game is...
The poster of this article is almost certainly some kind of troll. If not a Russian agent, a fascism sympathizer. If you look at his posting history, it is almost entirely about attacking the Democratic party and Biden. Even when he is "pro-progressivism" it is usually in the form of a concern troll.
As a result, everyone should ignore return2ozma. And it's probably time to block him entirely. Also, report him for being a troll, since he breaks the rules on a regular basis.
While that story is not impossible, it is vanishingly unlikely. I know that there's enough racism in the construction industry that it's a rare occurrence to even see multiple black people at a worksite.
The problem is his dishonesty. It's likely watching Foxnews or Newsmax. Sure, you can do it, but unless you're intentionally about seeing the "other side" then it's a waste of time. You're just exposing yourself to right-wing and fascist propaganda.
It's accurate for the West and Southwest too. But I don't know enough for every region to be totally certain that it is the case. Therefore, I am saying that it is "vanishingly unlikely," not that it is impossible.
Everyone on the left that is reasonably informed is aware of the danger. Trump could plunge the US into a fascist dictatorship. As a result, we are all vigilant on trying to avoid it. But guys like return2ozma are trying to muddy the waters as much as possible.
So be careful with this line of thinking. Same goes for mods who tolerate him. History of such characters tells us that sooner or later, return2ozma will say something outrageous, like making statements blatantly in favor of overt fascism or whatever. Eventually, the mods will have to respond or face a crisis.
I know enough to know that black constructor workers are surprisingly rare and usually discriminated against. Though I cannot say this with confidence for every region. Like I said, your claims are vanishingly unlikely, but not impossible.
It is vanishingly unlikely given what we know about the subject. Even the possibility of running into multiple right-wing black people at once in normal circumstances, given that they're around 5-10% of the black population, is very unlikely. Combined with an industry where they're rare to begin with, even more so. As a result, it is exceedingly unlikely that this story is real. But again, not impossible.
There are limits to that type of thinking. As someone that is very familiar with what happened at Reddit, Twitter, even Digg before them, you are absolutely playing with fire here.
The demo is focused on being anti-fascist. Biden just happens to be the main line of defense, if not the only one. Hence the sensitivity to those that only seem to attack Biden.
Anyways, if these people aren't going to be banned, then I will say this: Everyone should block every users that seems like a troll on this topic. And the same goes for any communities that seem "off" on this issue. And for problematic instances, demand your local instance defederate them entirely. Hopefully, decentralized social media will be able to avoid the disasters that happened in centralized social media.
Then you think like Elon Musk, who thinks we should have "both sides" of the issue, even when the other side is just extremism or foreign actors. We know from history that this doesn't work. The community will inevitably end up being simply not worth it, and nearly everyone leaves.
I honestly think people left of center have lost their minds with this stuff.
You wonder how real some of these people are. They make a few topics the main reason to oppose Biden, but excuse them for any other politician, especially ones that will make it even worse. They always come off as non-American agitators. Many of which seem to be just Russian actors on top of that.
Which is why many of them probably aren’t. They're agitators from outside the US. At best, very poorly informed people from other countries with some obsession with US politics. At worst, people intending to spread misinformation.
Polling has become a mess, mainly because we can no longer rely on landlines for generating unbiased samples. Most attempts at fixing this issue, such as online polling, have their own massive biases. So it's incredibly difficult to figure out what's real and what's not. And no, doing a hundred bad polls or increasing the sample size won't fix it. Bias in the data can only be fixed by figuring out a way of creating truly fair samples.

I haven't read anything from the NYT that would constitute "actual journalism" in what seems like many years now. It's not much different than the NY Post, just with less bombast.
The formal news section of the NY Post is not that different than the NY Times. It's just not the focus of the NYP. And the NYT isn't reporting anything beyond the most basic of news events. It's pretty much the same thing as reading the AP. I can't remember the last time they got a real scoop or any inside sources on anything.
You clearly don't yourself, since tanks are made of carbon fiber. Embrittlement is very alloy dependent too. Choose the right alloy and it is a non-issue.
There are vast quantities of suitable underground caverns. It gives many orders of magnitude more storage capacity than any other idea, including pump hydro (which is significantly more geographically limited).
