aesthelete, to politics in Joe Biden suddenly leads Donald Trump in multiple polls

Ugh I see why horseshoe theory sticks around

I don’t think “deserve” actually has much to do with what people get. I think you get the government you get unless you’re willing to organize with others and actually push for something better.

But you probably think talking trash about Biden on lemmy threads is somehow doing those things. It isn’t.

I don’t think you should consider being simple-minded enough to deserve politicians like Trump to be a good thing, but you do you.

People who think it’s simple to solve problems that are as intractable as those listed above singlehandedly almost deserve politicians like Trump that promise to fix it alone and never deliver anything but tax breaks for billionaires.

aesthelete, to politics in The GOP can't leave MAGA — "Americans must electorally mercy-kill the Republican Party"

2016 was 8 years ago, and I think it’s rather weird and conspiratorial to blame Hillary for Trump in the first place. She might’ve had a preferred opponent but she certainly didn’t control the GOP. She barely controlled the DNC. She had a hard fought primary with Bernie who wasn’t even a member of the party, and had a relatively low national profile before the election.

This points at exactly what I’m talking about above. To hear you tell it, Democrats are somehow the only people with agency in the entire political landscape.

The country genuinely does need a competitive second party.

Everyone blames Democrats for the lack of choice in candidates, while the other guys are nominating a twice impeached, adjudicated rapist and insurrection supporter with ninety one criminal indictments and multiple pending civil suits.

I haven’t had a candidate come out of the GOP worthy of consideration in my entire lifetime. At one point, they were the party of not only Lincoln but folks like Eisenhower.

aesthelete, to politics in Grisham on Trump’s meeting with Orbán: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

You’re so far up Trump’s ass that it’d be difficult to find daylight, let alone get to the polls to vote for him.

aesthelete, to politics in Grisham on Trump’s meeting with Orbán: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

Yeah I guess it’s difficult to vote from anyone from inside their colon.

At some recent point, we decided that clearly ambiguous, philosophical questions had hard, fast, and absolute answers.

aesthelete, to politics in Grisham on Trump’s meeting with Orbán: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

Wrong answer because clearly you’re a “NPC” in Trump’s videogame, and you’re one that doesn’t even have interactions or any discernible lines.

What game are you the main character in? Mama’s basement wars?

aesthelete, to lemmyshitpost in Amazon "search through reviews" is blindly just running an AI model now

Can this thing be activated via URL? Because if so they’ve got an issue that they’re not gonna be able to sanitize their way around at all.

aesthelete, to politics in Warnock praises Biden for focusing on election while Trump ‘runs from the jailhouse’

Democrats should put together an ad just rattling off Trump’s 91 indictments.

aesthelete, to politics in Grisham on Trump’s meeting with Orbán: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

Trump bot everybody.

aesthelete, to politics in Grisham on Trump’s meeting with Orbán: ‘He wants to be a dictator’

No other former president has even one criminal indictment.

There’s a reason why politicians typically resign when faced with even a single criminal indictment: they are too distracted by their legal problems to devote the time necessary to do the work of the people.

But somehow this guy who can’t even remember who the current president is will not be distracted by 91 criminal indictments? GTFOH
