“Under Stephen Harper’s Conservative government, tycoons like the Semples were tapped for advice and wielded greater influence outside the province,” said Enoch, director of the Saskatchewan office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

“Their influence dropped off with the Trudeau government, but I think they’re keen to regain it with a Poilievre victory.”

Yeah, that’s what we need … Harper’s Con, Part Deux.

‘They miscalculated’: Gaza’s floating aid pier failing to deliver in rough seas (www.theguardian.com)

The pier has been usable for just 12 days since it began operations on 17 May. On most of those days the assistance arriving by sea has had to be left on the beach as there have been no trucks to distribute it to warehouses in Gaza, because of lack of security....

They may have … because the planning was rushed … meaning, more importantly, they used historical weather patterning which is now unreliable (due to global warming).

And yet Media Bias gives Press Progress a High mark for factual reporting.

I do agree on how poorly the article is written tho. But when it can’t be based on facts (like police reports or other sources) it would always just be a he said/she said.

They are one of the wealthiest Canadian families who own dozens of businesses in Canada and the US.

Some of the biggest issues with them are their vertical integration (ie: owning the refinery, gas stations, transportaion companies that deliver fuel and construction/engineering firms that maintain their infrastructure), provincial media ownership monopoly and political patronage.

Fact Checked: Four Claims on Drug Deaths (thetyee.ca)

It was a heated day in Canada’s House of Commons when elected Speaker Greg Fergus ejected Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre from the chamber on April 30. Conservative politicians lie and obfuscate because they wouldn’t know the truth if it slapped them in the face.

(On another note fuck Trudeau for running again, essentially guaranteeing that Canada will have a fucking Con gov’t … all because of his hubris.)

When a partial truth vs the whole truth is told it’s still a lie.

Megaconstellations of satellites are burning up in our atmosphere. That could have consequences (www.cbc.ca)

There are an estimated 11,500 tonnes of space objects orbiting Earth, which would include even the smallest pieces around one millimetre in size (likely satellite collisions). But there are far larger objects in space, including spent rocket stages and upwards of 9,000 functioning satellites. More than half of them are SpaceX...

With Trudeau on the ropes, Liberals contemplate the next election with hope and anxiety (www.cbc.ca)

The polls are not good for the Liberals — in fact, they’re struggling to overcome the 15 to 20-point gap that separates them from the Conservatives. But those close to the prime minister like to point out that their leader is used to being underestimated and performs well under pressure....

Lawyer couple accused of stealing millions from homebuyers while law society stalled (www.cbc.ca)

A husband-and-wife law firm in Toronto has been shut down, lenders have moved to seize their family homes, and they’re facing 15 lawsuits and a police investigation after millions of dollars in client money went missing from the firm’s trust accounts....

Rinse and repeat for every other Westernized nation in the world.

Canada and the US are exactly the same. And nobody in either gov’t is doing anything to change it.

Personally I hope the photo that was taken of the idjit goes straight to the cops and they arrest him on harassment charges, then deport his ass.

Yes the win is illusionary. One only need run down the list of supporters, like Jim Jordan, to know that the loss of the SIO is not good.

Drug Fraud, the stealer of healthcare and thief of millions from healthcare transfer funds.

So, what to do now? Maybe stop electing asshole premiers who won’t sign onto an agreement that locks healthcare transfers to be only spent on heathcare, education transfers to be spent on only education, etc etc. (which, btw, every premier declined to sign when Trudeau gave them extra billions … because they’re all fucking power-hungry assholes).

For Ukrainians in Canada, new conscription rules increase pressure to fight (www.cbc.ca)

Ukraine has recently dropped the conscription age from 27 to 25, increased fines for draft dodgers to half the average monthly wage and ordered embassies to stop renewing passports for Ukrainian men living abroad. What you say is true, but the fundamental issue is Ukraine is in an active war with estimates of 31-70k killed and 120k injured (source)

As with all wars the front line is where the soldiers are needed most … so while support positions are vital, so are men actively fighting in the trenches.

How could they be used for biological warfare?

Many of the fungi make spores, and the spores are designed to be carried in the wind. Generally when people make biological warfare, they have to change the organism so it can be dispersed by air. Well, the fungi come ready-made to be dispersed by air.
