I know for a fact she's not in Burning Point Lake of Fire.

She's in a piss soaked patch of dirt in London.

Streetdog,

That’s many letters to spell London.

Got_Bent,

I had to Google and see if people were really pissing on her grave. Sadly it appears it’s heavily guarded behind barriers. One comment astutely observed that this setup also helps keep that “vampiric bitch” in her grave where she belongs.

She's actually in Super Hell.

SuddenDownpour,

Got sent there and was promoted to manager.

Viking_Hippie,

Tucson?

at_an_angle,

Scottsdale.

Cabrio, in Dear atheists

Unfortunately she didn’t go there for punishment, she went for a job.

jbrains, in Dear atheists

The old joke remains.

My only regret is that there isn’t a hell for her to have gone to.

Blind faith only invites others to exert their power over you.

During an x-mas family gathering when I was around 9 years old, I noticed that “Santa” looked suspiciously similar to a relative who just so happened to walked away for a “smoke break”. 🤔

Thats when “faith” started to seem ridiculous to me.

expatriado,

your family was more dedicated and cooperative than mine

WarmSoda,

I noticed my Xmas gifts were wrapped with the same paper as my birthday presents. There was no Santa after that.

That said Song of the Fucked Duck by Marge Piercy has a great thought on that:

The will to be totally rational
is the will to be made out of glass and steel:
and to use others as if they were glass and steel.

I can still love the sacred in a profane existence.

OwenEverbinde,

You gotta be careful though!

The metaphysical / new age religions have a version of “a desire to be totally rational” that is honestly just as bad.

I grew up in one. No glass and steel, but quite the desire to be made out of cosmic sunbeams and spiritual joyfulness.

Humans feel more than that. Pain, grief, loneliness, stress, rage, and pride aren’t toxic energy: they are existence. You can’t aspire to something that cuts out half of your existence, or you’re always going to feel inadequate.

Not wanting my kids getting sexually assaulted is up there as well.

Going to a religious school works pretty well, too.

Bread,

Ah yes, comes with a fair amount spite for the religion too.

A lot of them were also understood to be parables, obfuscations, and metaphors but Europeans in the early 300s lacked a decent grasp of literary concept. In particular there are two tellings of the demolishment of the walls of Jericho. There’s the one where the trumpet blast did it, but there’s also the one where the trumpet blast was a signal to the sappers under the walls to knock out the support beams they’d rigged while they were working to undermine the foundations of the wall

Plants grew before there was sunlight

I need an explanation for this one

richieadler,

See these quotes. Notice the order.

oo1,

yeah the only way i can square it would be that they're making a distinction between the general "light" available on day 1 - and very well publicised - vs the more specific creation of the sun and moon and stars later on (day 3? maybe ) .

I'm guessing that god probably got bored of having to invoke the voice activated light switch each time , so by day 3, decided to subcontract the sun to do it.

Even if he did forget to do the lights again on day 2 there might have been some emergency grow lights set up that the authors of genesis thought might slow down the plot so skipped over - either way I'm sure the plants'd have been fine for a day.

If he was real, God is a dick.

PS1’s Final Fantasy Tactics.

I will not elaborate.
