“If you kill another 30,000 people we will be super mad and have some really big feelings about it.”

The remarks come as a ship loaded with supplies prepares to leave Cyprus on Sunday to provide aid to Palestinians in Gaza. It would be the first vessel in what the European Union has indicated would be a humanitarian sea corridor.

Wasn’t it going to take 60 days to build the dock?

partial_accumen,

Perhaps they’re using a large ship to get the goods close to shore, then smaller boats to ferry the goods from the ship to the shore. Very inefficient compared to unloading the ship straight onto a dock, but without a dock it still gets the goods there with more time and effort.

mkwt,

Building a port facility in hostile territory from the sea is the kind of d-day scenario that the US military will train for and have some kind of plan for. I don’t know how the 60 day figure came to be, but that’s almost certainly not how long it takes to actually construct a usable facility once the resources have been committed and are on the scene.

OutlierBlue,

Even as Biden warned Israel’s government against further targeting of the civilian population in Gaza, he reiterated his general support. “I’m never going to leave Israel,” said the U.S. president. “The defense of Israel is still critical.”

So first he sets out a “red line” that he warns Netanyahu about crossing, but then goes on to say he’ll never stop supporting Israel. His red line is meaningless and he won’t do a damn thing when Israel keeps murdering innocent civilians.

catloaf,

Yeah. If they cross this line, what’s the consequence? Anything? Or just a bunch of hand-wringing and another red line?

Phanatik,

Oh that's easy, just move the red line back and say "if you cross this line, then we'll consider not supporting you".

Viking_Hippie,

Never take his apologists seriously when they say that he’s trying to rein in Netanyahu’s fascist apartheid regime.

The man who once bragged about attending more AIPAC events than any other politician in Washington hasn’t changed his submissive stance towards the Israeli government one bit.

He may feebly pretend otherwise with empty statements to the press, but that’s all it is: empty pretense.

distantsounds,

Ok sure, Joe. We believe you this time lol

Red line huh. Heard that one ten times the last months and nothing happened when Netanyahu crossed it. Biden even sent him more weapons to Genocide with.

The death toll in Gaza “is contrary to what Israel stands for. And I think it’s a big mistake,” the American president said.

It’s exactly what israel stands for.

Jamil,

Yep. The plan for the Zionist project, before ww2 even started, was all about genocide and ethnic cleansing. That’s what settler colonialism is.

About the United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine:

Zionist leaders, in particular David Ben-Gurion, viewed the acceptance of the plan as a tactical step and a stepping stone to future territorial expansion over all of Palestine.

It’s actually exactly what the primary national founder of the State of Israel said is what Israel stands for.

njm1314,

Have we? I don’t recall hearing that term used by the Biden Administration.
