BetaDoggo_,

The rest of the budget kind of sucks but this part makes sense. If you’re making significant profits off of users in a country you should have to pay some of that back. All countries should have this.

I really like the simplicity and formatting of stock pacman. It’s not super colorful but it’s fast and gives you all of the info you need. yay (or paru if you’re a hipster) is the icing on top.

BetaDoggo_,

Don’t buy a Chromebook for linux. While driver support usually isn’t an issue, the alternative keyboard layout is terrible for most applications. To even get access to all of the normal keys that many applications expect you need to configure multi-key shortcuts which varies in complexity based on your DE. In most cases it will also void your warranty because of the custom firmware requirement.

Use work laptop as personal device by dual booting on a separate internal drive?

I currently have a Dell laptop that runs Windows for work. I use an external SSD via the Thunderbolt port to boot Linux allowing me to use the laptop as a personal device on a completely separate drive. All I have to do is F12 at boot, then select boot from USB drive....

BetaDoggo_,

The drive is visible to the OS so if they have any kind of management software in place which looks for hardware changes it will be noticed.

Palworld Becomes the 7th Game Ever to Reach 1 Million Concurrent Players on Steam (www.githyp.com)

“Palworld is now one of only seven games that have seen over 1 million concurrent players on Steam – the others include: PUBG (3.2 mil), Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (1.8 mil), Counter-Strike 2 (1.4 mil), Lost Ark (1.3 mil), Dota 2 (1.2 mil), and Cyberpunk 2077 (1 mil).”

This game gives me weird vibes. The studio already had 2 other games in early access before this one, both of which are seemingly abandoned or at a standstill development wise. The gameplay itself just kind of looks like a generic base building game but with Pokémon and guns. Most of the steam reviews are just making jokes about the knockoff elements, guns, animal cruelty, etc.

I honestly can’t tell if this game is actually good or if it’s just a brief trend.

I’m normally all for making fun of pedophilia in the church, but this is just gross. Using the term “sex toys” in reference to children is disgusting and negates any possible humor that this meme could have had. This post goes beyond dark humor and is just distasteful.

BetaDoggo_,

I can’t believe best audio design was won by the only rhythm game nominated.

BetaDoggo_,

I find a lot of “visual overhaul” mods beyond just textures make games look worse. Most that I’ve tried go overboard with lighting effects that are distracting and don’t really fit the original art. The best visual mods I’ve used were the ones that extended view distances, increased shadow resolution and fixed small but noticeable visual issues like banding and shimmering. Trying to completely rework lighting in a game rarely turns out well.

BetaDoggo_,

Can’t you just use the numbers? Or did 2.0 break that?

BetaDoggo_,

As someone who has owned a Chromebook for several years, I can tell you that you shouldn’t. Hardware wise it’s hard to beat Chromebooks at their price points, but the complete lack of control over the system is a deal breaker. I don’t have time to list all of the issues I’ve had. In many cases what would have been trivial fixes on a normal Linux system required full reinstalls on chromeOS. Like the time I accidentally filled up the fairly modest system storage. The system refused to allow me to delete anything, requiring a reset just to get local file management abilities back.

I ultimately ended up installing full Linux on it, which ended up being a whole other ordeal due to all of Google’s “security” features.

BetaDoggo_,

It’s a shame that this game got written of by so many people due to its shaky launch. The game’s story and side quests are good and most of the game breaking stuff has been fixed. The visuals and art direction are great so it’s nice to see it getting support for new technologies even if no one can run them.

BetaDoggo_,

If retroarch is too much you can try Lemuroid. Lemuroid is a much simpler emulation app with a more straightforward GUI. It doesn’t come anywhere near the features or number of cores of retroarch but it supports most common retro systems.
