soulslike mechanics probably feel clunky to people that don’t really play soulslike. That said a bunch of things totally are clunky like cycling through spells and items which hasn’t significantly changed since dark souls, and for people that would rather take their time browsing the items walking while the menu is up is probably pretty jarring. Probably other things. It really has come a long way from demon souls but I honesly kinda prefer the jankiness of the older games.
outer worlds was basically a non bethesda 3d fallout game that wasn’t fallout, seemingly largely inspired by firefly in regards to the cast of characters and some aspects of the plot. you even randomly have your ship’s cargo hold filled with cows like the opening sequence of lne episode of firefly.
outer wilds is on my backlog and I know nothing apart from being told to play it repeatedly.
edit: actually im not even half way and I feel like every notable old game ever is on there at a huge discount, with some I am suspicious of with only the title to go off filling the space, except there is no space and its just packed. I need to sleep but I keep scrolling.
The witness 80% off working out to 10.89 irks me. significantly better games with more content are like 6 bucks. I guess when there are no achievements hinting at something being missed, you aren’t compelled to find and do the most bullshit timed challenge in any game I can remember, which increases its value… ?
disclaimer: I enjoyed the first 15-30 minutes or so of the witness then suffered through the slog of completing every last thing. Even my autistic friends that unintentionally did 100% speedruns didn’t like it which gave me the echo chamber I had desired the whole time playing.
I thought in japan you never quit your job or face a shit time of not getting hired because they are all ‘black companies’ and wont hire you under the assumption you could quit
unlike nearly every other company in existence in any industry, they actually earned their position. It would be nice if they gave a bigger cut to devs, sure, but literally nothing is stopping devs from going on multiple platforms. I am also more forgiving of that due to their contributions to linux gaming, especially now that windows is continuing to go bonkers even after they reached the point that I could no longer tolerate it.
I only buy off steam, gog, and itch.io for some indie stuff as the rest are a terrible experience. And there’s the other part, other platforms need to be good for anyone to want to use them, because nobody will leave steam for a worse platform unless gabe dies and the supposed fuckery prevention plan fails and they go corporate and get an EA approved ceo. Even then it would likely be a slow burn like twitter and reddit. gog and itch have the minimalist store covered so even that is a hurdle. Maybe epic execs can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and figure out how not to suck, then people might use them for more than just hoarding free games they will likely never play.
even if I search ‘zoom platform’ its like the 7th result after zoom the video conferencing software. just the sad state of the internet these days. anyway I found it now and I’ll check it out after work.
i feel like it was longer. its been more than that since I last played minecraft and I definitely remember getting the warning multiple times via email I feel like it even got delayed based on how long ago it feels.
I’ve only played world but the story was abysmal and the characters and facial expressions were as bad as bethesda, except with very japanese gestures with that specific style of overreaction, even if the character would never pass as japanese visually. yes its a japanese game, but even 3d models of white people acting super japanese makes me about as uncomfortable as real white people doing it but with uncanny valley mixed in.
anyway there’s no way anyone plays these games for story
This is just how fromsoft does things. Pretty weird but having played every souls game to completion and several of their other games just a bit, I feel like you get used to it. The only thing that bothered me about elden ring is that it just didn’t seem to outshine previous titles by enough (or at all) to be particularly excited about it.
I feel like its the same thing as how I can try to hop in something entirely new to me like baldurs gate 3 and there is just so much overwhelming shit that I’m not used to (still put in a good chunk of time and not done yet), but as a long time souls player, ER just felt like a new region and some new items and quests in a souls game. Oh and different timings for otherwise familiar mechanics I guess.
its good on controller but I mainly game on steam deck and I hate it on steam deck. too heavy and hard to get the sweet spot of avoiding accidental input and not having too high or too low sensitivity. I need a steam controller 2.
but yeah you can do stuff like fast/coarse move with stick and slow/precision with gyro and do compound movement of both at the same time, for example tilting against the stick if you overshoot or with the stick if the aim comes short, or adding up or down hairline adjustment on gyro while doing just right or left on the stick. weird at first but I can do it better than mouse aim on controllers with good implementaion.
that’s good to hear. all of the existing ones are already in my backlog for if things at work ever go as planned ever again. I own #2 and can play the rest via family share… ‘family’
i still don’t understand why people are scared of command line when a lot of the fixes for windows bullshit require it in addition to registry editing, and also sometimes gpedit which is enterprise only now iirc.
most people I have dealt with can’t even get on the internet if the browser icon moves a few spaces over. regular settinngs menus are out of the question for them, let alone an extra program for settings with names that don’t reflect their purpose in a laymans eyes. On the other hand I have had pretty decent success telling people to press win+x, release the keys, press a or whatever for cmd/powershell then copy paste a one liner, assuming a cmd/powershell command is available for the issue. or making a registry file they can double click.
I always hit the slash instead and the short shift messes me up too. although I switched to grid aligned 1u keys for everything recently and other boards were put up for free for a month or so and anything unclaimed went to the electronics pile at the transfer station.
I can cram into my ancient 80s civic hatch almost the same stuff my friend’s dad can put in whatever model giant suv he has. my friend has a small pickup that can carry more. The bigger vehicle is not any more comfortable, smells like plastic and fake leather, and it’s a mystery how that man makes the jump in and out of the vehicle with knees worse than mine because I have a hell of a hard time when I help them move stuff. Its also so damn high so getting heavy stuff in sucks big time. Not everyone wants a forklift to load their car.
I’m gettingn that thing where I keep losimg my spot no matter how many times I try to read over and bouncing paragraphs unintentionally. Does it say who owns Golden Rice? I assume it’s a branded product someone owns from the capitalization of its name.
there are only like 2 jumps where I couldn’t do it by simultaneously jumping off a bubble and blowing a new one and landing on it with the single bubbler. one was the triple dog room secret and the other was the button with two blocks roo. which can be skipped by oveeloading the blocking vines on the return path with bubbles. I didnt even realize you could blow the bubbles directly below you until I had the inf bubbler and was zig zagging left and right to slowly go upward.
edit: and I think both are possible just too hard for me. I can do the rooms individually for the 3dog challenge but the screen transitions are rough.
I edited it a bit to be more vague and removed mention of items not mentioned in the article. the rest isnt really a spoiler and only describes how I dont think the upgraded bubble mentioned in the article is even needed for any of the bubble jumps, though it would be harder. The room descriptions will be fully meaningless to anyone who hasnt spent hours scrutinizing every pixel, and 3 dog is literally just identifying a room with 3 dogs in it that are immediately visible on the room load. the game is a 2d platform/metroidvania with no written or spoken story.
these days I keep hearing people say that nv wayland it fine every time amd vs nv for linux comes up. Is manjaro more behind arch repos than I thought? or does it also not work on arch and other distros are doing something different?
no, one drive is Microsoft’s thing that they keep bringing back each update that you have to remove again so you don’t have a permanent notification.
joking aside though, what? I have 2 nvme, 1 sata ssd, and 5 spinning drives on bazzite.
edit: I see you mean the home directories on separate drives, which I have indeed not tested, nor have I used that setup in about a decade now so I dont know what issues could come up.
yeah I can’t imagine someone who does this for a job would carry a claw hammer. or that it would take so many people to bolt down each pylon. like I dunno maybe one or 2 to drill the holes, one to install and bond the studs, one to bolt the pylons down, and a traffic guy in each direction.
If they took a hands on approach either nobody would wamt it from the beginning, or it would look amazing only to have day one addititon of microtransactions, forced account, and previously unmentioned denuvo.
I really liked the two most recent ones, though I only played a tiny bit of ragnarok at a friends place because im not about to buy a playstation. I tried the original after on emu and its just not my thing. new ones are more talky and just listening to mimir while going around which is the most important part. theres a huge gap between the old games and the newer two with a whole lot left unexplained and you fill in some of the blanks from the ingame dialogue.
if I had one major gripe, its the chapter where the kid has his rebellious phase or something and I recommend not backtracking for side goals untitl he becomes mentally stable again because the dialogue makes him seem really bipolar if you backtrack while he is being pissy. or just don’t miss anything as you go.
edit: I meant to say something about how if you dont play the og games you kinda get the kids point of view where he doesnt really know anything about his dad’s past. that and the beard saves the guy from looking like warpaint agent 47.

I think its an outdated recommendation. They keep making weird choices and one of only two friends that was willing to try Linux went and tried Ubuntu without my input and decided to go back to windows for a bunch of mostly mundane reasons that could have either been configured away or been preempted by using a different distro. The other guy will be back but on bazzite after trying my steam deck he only left for shitty rootkit anticheat games that he’s now sick of. He started on one of the arch easy install methods and was already a power user on both windows and Mac.
I guess it got mangled after passing through all the social media platforms at the time. Man they tore into him in that episode though. I almost feel bad but then remember who it is about.
When I was younger and had more time to not worry about merely existing, I used to enjoy chasing the updates and trying to find every glitch and exploit and do as much silly shit as possible before patches went live.
