Karyoplasma,

I don’t live in a car-free city, but I wish I would. Fuck cars and especially fuck the people in them. I live in a pedestrian zone, but connected to the main artery through the city. You would think that labeling something as a pedestrian zone would reduce the amount of cars going through, but no, it’s just a second main street. Might as well take down the ped zone sign, it gets ignored anyway, so why waste money making one?

Karyoplasma,

Nah, it means that an arbitrary number was chosen to make it seem like there was competition on the ballot. A happy little math error.

You know, kinda like back in the day when Boris Yeltsin got 1 million votes from Chechnya even tho the war he himself instigated left the voting-eligible population at around 500k. Reportedly, exactly 70.0% out of those 500,000 voted for Yeltsin, and 70% of 500k is about a million because math.

Are there tools that exist to anonymize writing styles?

I feel like with the rise of AI something that anonymizes writing styles should exist. For example it could look for differences in American versus British spelling like color versus colour or contextual things like soccer versus football and make edits accordingly. ChatGPT could be fed a prompt that says “Rewrite the...

Karyoplasma,

B-b-but hostages.

Karyoplasma,

The most moral army in the world ™ has identified that it’s better to die standing than to live kneeling, so they did the hostages that favor. These charitable humanitarians deserve a medal!

That’s not what Gaben meant.

He is saying that games that were released despite being buggy or unfinished or both will have a permanent stain in the user reception. Basically, updates cannot fix a bad first impression.

Karyoplasma,

That’s right around the corner compared to Star Citizen.

People love to be scammed.

Karyoplasma,

It’s not about reinvesting into the quality of future games, it’s about getting a good financial quarter to please the shareholders. Welcome to infinite growth.

Karyoplasma,

It divides the player base and ensures that ingame achievements like world-first DLC dungeon completion or boss kills are invalidated or at least muddied within the community.

Just look at Diablo 4, it had a similar system and all it did was kill the hype. Not that I think D4 would have been a staple without that crap, but it certainly felt like it was damaging the reception even further.

D3 was also a dumpster fire at release, and yet Kripp and Krippi’s co-op run for world first Inferno Diablo HC is legendary. One of the very few positive talking points about that game.

Karyoplasma,

If things like this would be considered, the outcry would be huge because female characters have this disadvantage…

Karyoplasma,

That’s wanted by the marketing team tho. Hype creates profit, regardless how shit your product is. There is a reason why the Diablo 4 Facebook ad says “the fastest selling ARPG ever” instead of something tangently related to gameplay. It’s banking on hype sales, product comes second. They need to rake in quick profits to appease their shareholders.

Social media has conditioned people into swarm thinking and instant gratification instead of introspection and reflected decisions. Nobody gives a fuck about long-term consequences anymore. It’s sickening.
