But there’s no “biological” reason for that. In the same way, skirts/dresses being for women and suits/ties being for men, leg hair, haircuts, voice, mannerisms, emotional availability, all get tied one gender or another.
We, in our society, have associated some properties to one of two genders. Some of these properties tend to be associated to one sex (sex being a more “biological” thing (but still not binary or unchangeable!)), but many of them are just expectations we put upon people. This is what “gender is a social construct” means; that the general understanding and intuition about gender is constructed by the society in which we live. Different societies may have more than 2 genders or completely different sets of associations.
Unfortunately these categorizations are bad for a significant portion of the population, including trans people, gender non-confirming people, but even cishet people; how many times have you heard of some act making you “not a real man” (eg crying for a movie)?
While Canada claims to be a climate leader, the oil and gas we export to other countries have the potential to produce more emissions in a year than every sector in Canada combined, an independent analysis reveals.
I’d suggest some kind of “press this key to view debug information” text (or make it documented but not visible, to avoid people just pressing whatever button is written on the screen)
Note: “relay” is the nostr term while “instance” is the AP/Mastodon/Lemmy term. They are functionally very similar and offer the same abilities to ban annoying users from “public square” type spaces. Moderation works identically....
I checked out Nostr relatively recently and it seemed to me it was full of cryptobros and extremely right-wing people (libertarians, Trump fanatics. A ton of racism and queerphobia, also a bunch of conspiracy thinking). Has anything changed?
Nostr is culturally vaguely american, and it’s hard to distinguish the libertarians from the Trumpists there (I’ve seen several posts saying “Trump will be better for Bitcoin”, for example). Libertarians and republicans both sell themselves as “small government”.
“Leftist libertarians” generally call themselves anarchists, in my experience.
It’s actually several seminars. For historical reasons presentations from gay frogs, lesbian frogs, bisexual frogs, etc. Are all grouped under “gay frog seminar”
Made the op of that post change the title from something without “rule” to rule. The OP of this post makes a comment happy that that post doesn’t have “rule” in the title, and a few minutes later this post appears.

There’s no reason you should need to drive for that kind of stuff. Sure, it takes 5 minutes, but it’s worse for your health, the environment, your wallet, and your morale.
It works, not seamlessly but close. Any community is considered to be an account, with any posts made to it considered to be a “tweet”. Any comments are replies to the post. A microblog account can post to a community by @ ing it, and reply to comments and posts by… replying to the post.
From lemmy to microfedi doesn’t work as well, but you can reply to posts as normal and like by upvoting.
The point you’re missing is that it isn’t about integrating significantly different platforms like lemmy and mastodon, but rather connecting platforms that are close enough.
Mastodon federates with misskey, firefish, iceshrimp, sharkey, (all extremely featured and very similar to mastodon), writefreely (more for blogging and writing but absolutely connects), some wordpress websites (there’s a plugin), peertube (you can follow channels to see when videos are posted), friendica and who knows how many tiny custom instances.
This allows massive customisation of your experience.
Anyway, interop is more of a happy side-effect of using a common federation protocol
What does “not full functionality” mean here, no head movement or you can’t use the cameras? Cus as long as I can play the games I’e got through steamvr I’m happy
