Do you think people would be okay with 'Recall' if Apple did it?

With the recent WWDC apple made some bold claims about privacy when it comes to so called Apple Intelligence. This makes me wonder if they did something to what Microsoft did with Recall feature, would people be less concerned and to an extend praise their effort?...

Do I trust them? Sure, I guess, when it comes to privacy from other entities.

Do they not send everything directly to ChatGPT? Like, that logic is not broken with that for the Apple users?

@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Why the project have an Elon Musk xitter in the readme?

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

If I recall correctly, most things that the bugs did was fake news, just propaganda to justify the war that sustain the failed government.

One day the series was a dark fantasy with a more tactical combat with a mix of turn based combat.

Now this shit is a High Fantasy with Kingdom of Amalur combat.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

The thing is Kingomds of Amalur is a 2012 game, 12 years later we have a AAA with same combat? Doesn’t looks like a evolution at all.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I think you misunderstood me, Amalur have a bland combat with no much depth and that what I’m comparing to, the new combat looks like a generic third-person combat, they got hid of the tactical combat and didn’t offer nothing substantial.

The boss fight with the pride demon looks okish but the normal enemies is like smashing the button 3 times to kill them.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

So I guess Kingdoms of Amalur-style combat

Kingdoms of Amalur summarize perfectly. Looks like they abandoned the more tactical approach and didn’t brig nothing new or interesting, looks like a side grade from Inquisition and not a improvement.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Yep, they released the creation kit on steam

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I think that the same principle applied to Windows/Mac, doing any administrator work without terminal seems impractical or impossible.

@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Arkenfox is definitely not unmaintained.

When you can’t win with weapons(because you suck) it’s time for some psychological warfare.

My friend didn't have a great experience with Linux

I have been daily driving Linux for over two years now and I have switched distros many times. So, when my friend bought a new laptop, I convinced him to install Linux Mint on it. I asked him if he wanted to dual boot, he said no because it would fill up all his storage. We installed Linux Mint. The other day, he wanted to play...

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

You skipped a few steps. Before you install Linux for your friend, you should first ask him what he uses the PC for, and if he plays games, what games does he play.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Guys, search for “an anime team” on github. You don’t even need to configure Heroic/Lutris/Bottles.

Do you guys really believe that the Linux community will not find a way to play with waifus?

I played Genshin with it for about 6 months before I quit and it worked pretty well, the downside is that when the game is updated the launcher has to be updated too and that takes some time. I never missed the dailies though.

New Linux user, here is my use case. Distro recommendations?

Update 1: Thanks for all the responses! I’ve gotten a lot of very good comments saying I should stick with Mint, and that’s sitting comfortably in my top two picks right now. Between new distros, I’m most interested in Arch’s rolling release model, as it provides some benefits for me for reasons I didn’t really get...

Baldur’s Gate 3 runs perfectly

Yeah, but jesus fucking christ I’m in pain right now trying to run some mods because of dotnet8.

ZeroHora,

Brazil right? Even the government runs on that shit, is inescapable

ZeroHora,

But the real purpose is to downvote stuff that violates the rules or is immoral in general

Says who? Since when? wtf

@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

The real culprit is, surprise, late stage capitalism and unbridled greed. Who would’ve guessed?

An article that recognize the problem with our current economical system and didn’t circle around the issue? Color me surprised

I don’t know if Fallout is still associated with 76 after the show and Skyrim still is a huge thing even after Starfield.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I remember a post on reddit asking for a SteamDeck alternative because SteamDeck uses Linux, the guy never used the SteamDeck or Linux before… The way media treats Linux is really fucking important, maybe if Linux was from a big player like Android is from Google, people wouldn’t make such a fuss about it.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Steam OS is but part of the media as shown in the video, just call it Linux and Linux itself does not come from Valve.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah and no one puts Linux as downside in reviews for a new android smartphone.

Open source e reader (lemmy.ml)

I recently got a Sony prs 600 e reader from 2009. The battery is at the end of its life (It lasts about 3 days with heavy reading, and a couple weeks without reading). No backlight, no Wi-Fi, just an SD card that I can load epub files and small PDFs. The screen is slow and the contrast isn’t the best. The “touch screen” is...

I don’t know exactly what flag it is but I’ll give you a tip

Look at the arkenfox hardened config or the Librewolf project, both enhanced Firefox privacy and change some flags.

I watched the video that’s why I downvoted, he says that states with no gun rights are communist states…

I have an Obsidian Kanban Board with the games that I’m currently playing, games that I dropped, games that I’ve to play, that I completed and games that I’m not planning to stop soon

I highly recommend, pretty useful and customizable.

Do Russia have some fuck up law like USA that the government can access the data of Russian’s companies?

Thanks for the tip. I’m gonna give it a try

In my understanding you can run .exe with double click if you install wine and choose it to open any .exe as default, if you have DXVK with wine like fedora do and if the program have all the dependencies in the .wine folder things probably will work.

I think that the magic that happens with Proton is just a hell lot of people debugging and pushing fixes to Proton/Proton-GE and so on for multiples games.

Hijaking the post to ask another thing related to Proton, do Proton uses the binaries of the bin folder most games have? Like the multiples .NET runtimes? Or the windows still need to have it so the game can detect it as installed?

Elden Ring is getting a free-to-play mobile version with in-app purchases (www.rockpapershotgun.com)

Action-RPG colossus Elden Ring is reportedly getting a free-to-play mobile adaptation with in-app purchases, which takes inspiration from miHoYo’s Genshin Impact. It’s being published by Tencent, who apparently acquired the licensing rights to Elden Ring back in 2022 and put a few dozen people to work on a prototype, even as...

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

I doubt is Elden Ring actually, probably is just the IP name with some of the assets toss over in a simplified version.

For me Fedora only needs to speed up the dnf and update the installer.

Here’s a video of Doom running on gut bacteria, proving you really can play the game on anything (www.engadget.com)

An MIT biotech researcher has been able to run the iconic computer game Doom using actual gut bacteria. Lauren Ramlan didn’t get the game going on a digital simulation of bacteria, but turned actual bacteria into pixels to display the 30-year-old FPS, as reported by Rock Paper Shotgun....

ZeroHora,

I don’t thinks that is greed actually, Gabe gaining more and more money is greed but spend that wealth in random shit is just like people do, if you have billions the random shit you can buy is more pricy.

Fuck billionaire anyway

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Billionares creating politics and buying politicians so they can continue to be rich is greed totally, but unless yatch is a scheme to avoid taxes that I don’t know they buying it is like me buying toys to put on my desk in a large scale.

I play with Proton Experimental, I don’t know if I’ll get banned, but until then I’ll keep playing.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Now the status is silver, I don’t know if it was an update from them and they didn’t announce it, if it’s a Proton Experimental thing or just luck, but now it’s running.

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

DRM in old games so you are only affecting people that bought the game? Genius

ZeroHora,
@ZeroHora@lemmy.ml avatar

Bu than people could download a pirate version and install mods, in the end the pirate version is way more attractive than the original.
