How do I do this?

the16bitgamer,
@the16bitgamer@lemmy.world avatar

It’s linked in the article, but as a TL:DR.

  1. Go to this link -> spotpassarchive.github.io
  2. Scroll Down until you find the links in the middle of the page (Says Nintendo 2DS/3DS)
  3. Click on the link which is right for you and your hardware, works best if you’ve modded, but can work if you don’t mod
  4. Run the dumping software, it will upload the results automatically. If it doesn’t or errors out you can manually upload it.

why is there a german address on the back? I don’t believe this was made in germany… Does nintendo just have their european offices there? Frankfurt isn’t really the top location for that, I’d have expected some of the bigger cities there

Bezier, (edited )
@Bezier@suppo.fi avatar

Probably offices. The country makes sense since I’m in EU, but no clue about Frankfurt. I checked some of my other junk, and the Switch dock has the same address on it.

My Wii says 63760 Großostheim.

Edit: web.archive.org/…/nintendo-europe-closing-grossos…

stoicmaverick, in Looks like I'm gonna need a new battery.

Nah, just put a couple of upholstery staples through the back piece there. They’re too thin to interfere with the electronics, and it’ll keep it flush for the foreseeable future.

You can buy third party batteries with more capacity now anyways.

slym,
@slym@lemmy.ca avatar

And do you know how much bigger capacity those third party batteries have vs the default one from big N? It sound something that i could buy.

NOT_RICK, (edited )
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

Only like 5-10% more if I recall correctly.

Edit: I just looked up my purchase history. Out the factory, the N3DS XL comes with a 1750 mah battery. You can buy 2000mah batteries now (at least that’s what they advertise, no idea if it’s that much in practice).

And quick too, that's a fire hazard. I wouldn't keep it inside the house. A puncture can make it combust.

approxamatrix, in Looks like I'm gonna need a new battery.

Oh, yikes…

Got yourself a spicy pillow. Got to get that out quick.

That just means its ripe and ready to harvest.

Scrof, in The Best of... DS from NGamer 76 - June 2012 (UK)

The good old days when Nintendo was still good… Have nothing but good memories of my DS. I still have it, it’s just that right shoulder doesn’t work anymore and the battery barely hold half an hour. Possibly easily fixable but meh, I already played the crap out of it. 3DS was such a disappointment. Not that it’s a bad console (although the 3D gimmick is ridiculously terrible) or the library is bad, no, plenty of good stuff in there, but it really pales in comparison.

kratoz29,

Well, definitely you throw out some unpopular opinions mate 😅

I don’t think Nintendo is not good anymore, so many of us think that, and I agree the DS being superior, but the 3DS wasn’t a disappointment, indeed without it maybe Nintendo would have been the new SEGA lol.

The 3D gimmick was just that, a gimmick, nothing revolutionary but at least you could turn it off, and when you were bored turning it on was an option as well, without considering the actual titles that use it very well and you feel comfortable having it always ON with those.

I’ve just acquired my son’s old 3DS and was thinking the same thing. Looks like I’ll pass on that thought.

I may buy new plates if I can find them, that would improve the look a lot. Also, I need to replace the top plastic screen cover but YouTube says that’s really easy.

Wow these games are a choice with the only Pokemon game being Black and white.

I remember this era and more importantly, game journalism from this era. This is what people thought others bought the DS for. Zelda the newest pokemon, and some license rubbish (why is Lego rockband here).

That said there are some real bangers here from Chrono trigger and the world ends with you. Plus some games that would eventually turn into cult classic. Still needs more starfy

Not really my list of choice but I am glad my favorite Advance Wars installment got some love. When it was released I don’t think it was well received

I_Has_A_Hat,

People were expecting cartoony Orange Star vs Black Hole with all their favorite COs pal’n around. Instead they were hit with post-apocalyptic, war-torn hellscape that right out of the gate focuses on the brutal realities of war.

It’s a great game, but I can see why it wasn’t well received.

dabu,
@dabu@lemmy.world avatar

Oh that’s for sure. It had very little in common with the previous installments

dinckelman, in How popular are custom shells for the n3dsXL?

It’s definitely not as common as you’d think. Either way, I would strongly suggest not attempting it either way. Disassembling the top part of the console is a colossal pain in the ass. Some five ribbons have to stretch through the circular hole in a very specific way, and they have the structural integrity of my mental health

JusticeForPorygon,
@JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe I’ll just cricut some vinyl stickers then put a clear case over it for protection.

wesker, in How popular are custom shells for the n3dsXL?
@wesker@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

It is a royal pain in the ass to replace 3DS shells, both old and new. Such a pain in the ass, that I just simply won’t buy them to refurbish if I have to do a complete reshell. And 3rd party replacement shells are dogshit. So unless you have an OEM loaner, I really, really don’t recommend it.

JusticeForPorygon,
@JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world avatar

That’s kind of what I was afraid to hear. It’s such a neat concept, but with how the 3ds is constructed, i had a feeling it would be more trouble than it’s worth.
