3.5/5. Drinking Mold 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and it’s a little corker. Bright skies to the right, angry dark clouds to the left. The Great British Summer. @beersofmastodon

Some brewers know how to do barrel aging. Both the beer and the barrel contribute to the aroma, in a lovely harmony.

I hadn't been to Third Hill Brewing in , since opening weekend, so Mrs. Porterman and I stopped by. She had the Fun Time Selzer and loved it. I had the I Hart Stout, a 10.1% ABV imperial stout. Malty, roasty, and smooth. I followed it up with Three Strikes, You're Stout!, a 6.8% ABV American stout. This one reminded me of a black IPA. I just loved the hoppy bitterness, and it's one of the best beers I've had in a very very long time. @beersofmastodon

Nice refreshing hoppy beer, with a malty honey like sweet aftertaste. Lots of flavour for a weak one. Big thumbs up from this end of the bar 👍👍👍👍

Maximus, in collaboration with a liquor store and local beer club: Una Maximas, NZ rice lager.

👃🏻Grape, lime, peach, chives.
👁️ Light yellow, hazy. Stable white head.
👅 Dry, thin body, but the hop aromas make for a tasty brew. Very refreshing, and easy drinking. Very slight hop burn.

mail is the best mail!

I received a box full of goodness from the Maximus

in Utrecht (NL), following the release of their newest special: Psycho Cyclops NEIPA. I tried it, and wrote a blog post about the experience!

Spoiler: it's smooooth, not bitter at all, and massively tropical.🍻

Grom Braveheart BA RIS 🍻 by Bliksem 🇳🇱

Even better and more balanced than a few years ago: smokey, tar, leather, earthy and some sweetness wrapped around it.

Music pairing: Mouth for War - Panterra 🤘

"Our GROM made a trip to mediaeval Scotland. We have aged our Russian Imperial Stout in freshly emptied Laphroaig barrels. A slightly peated monster of a stout. Just as William Wallace would have liked it."

In a masterclass, we learned all about blending wild ales, and how to construct a balanced yet complex beer based on mouthfeel, bitters and acidity. Quite the art!

We also compared the maturation of our single barrel wild ale with a similar project with different wort and age. Fascinating!

3.5/5. There’s a band and this is £7.30 a Pint. Britain in 2024. However, I going it may well be worth it @beersofmastodon
