Spoiler alert - Karlach's kink is Ray of Frost, leaving at least one gnome mage with slightly singed lips and stars in his eyes.

Pssst, can I interest you in some free video games? (feddit.uk)

Howdy pardners, this is a cheeky self-plug for !freegames, a community I’ve created to post limited-time full-game free giveaways. It’s been going a month or two and I’m already claiming games faster than I can play them, so come and join me and make your what-game-to-play choice paralysis worse!

Oh boy, have I got some treats in store for you...

Question - is it just video games, or are you looking for tabletop RPGs too?

Pretty much, although these days a lot of folks find it more convenient to have the rules in .pdf for easy access. There's hundreds available. Here's a listing I had posted last night on the @13thFloor magazine I run over here on kbin - happy to crosspost if you feel it fits.

No worries & thanks for the suggestion.

I buy games based on the following tier scale:

Gameplay > Performance > Price > Expected time playing > Graphics

I agree with your point in the post, especially after playing Darktide, which chucked performance out the window for fog and lighting effects. It doesn't matter how pretty your game is if it's rendering at 3fps.

This reduces the minuscule interest I had in replaying Paladins to a negative number. Smite's been nothing but frustrating garbage, but I thought that with a bit of polish and a lot more character development, Paladins had promise when it came out. Starting a labor dispute to begin a practice that will degrade the overall quality of the game means it's not worth my hard disk space to install their products - it's clear things are only going to get worse for Hi-Rez titles from here.

I have to admit, Barbie becoming a Chinese feminist icon was not on my 2023 bingo card. Anyone taking bets on when we're gonna get a kpop version of this classic?

Looks fun - I'm getting FZero vibes from the vid. They're a creative team, although Rainworld was a bit too slow for my personal taste, my kid spent a lot of time enjoying it. It's nice to see them up the ante here, and it's cool that they're including split-screen.

[PC] Action RPG with multiplayer crossplay (kbin.social)

My favorite game franchise is Monster Hunter but I currently have played enough of every game in the franchise to be burnt out and am looking for something new. What I like about MH is the action combat system, the small group multiplayer and although most MH games don't have it, I'd like a game similar to this that also...

You might want to give Dauntless a shot. I haven't played it in a while, but it's basically a free monster hunter clone. The graphics weren't up to MH levels, but the combat is solid and the crafting system is pretty fun.

    Ooof...

Haven't played it, but honestly watching the video, it basically looks like a Doom clone built on the Source engine with worse music. Note I support indie devs, but there are a number of glaring issues just in the video that would cause me to stop playing, the first and foremost of which is the "enemies appear out of nowhere" dynamic followed closely by the "forcefields go up and limit your fight area regularly" dynamic. Both are an excuse for shoddy programming and bad level design.

This one would need a lot of work before I'd drop money on it, and I'm a big FPS horde shooter fan. Hard pass.

If you liked Portal, any of the games that run on the source engine would be a good fit for you. Half Life 2 has an amazing single player story in FPS style and is on sale right now for $.99. Left for Dead 2 is another classic - probably the best zombie shooter of all time (and has a world of third party content) - also on sale right now for $.99. Straight military, go for CS:GO, or Team Fortress II if you prefer more of a Fortnite style game. All of these are older games, so run amazingly well on even the most mediocre hardware.
