LucidBoi,

Playing DayZ on a PvE server with my FIL. It’s very comfy.

LucidBoi,

It’s fun times. Everybody helps each other out, there’s trading, events etc.

LucidBoi,

I’ve been using Dopamine for years. Nothing ever got even close to it.

How do you handle your passwords?

I rely on Bitwarden (slooowly migrating from… a spreadsheet…) and am thinking of keeping a master backup to be SyncThing-synchronized across all my devices, but I’m not sure of how to secure the SyncThing-synchronized files’ local access if any one of my Windows or Android units got stolen and somehow cracked into or...

LucidBoi,

Is syncing the .kbdx files using Syncthing unsafe?

LucidBoi,

Do the files pass through their servers unprotected? I don’t really understand how Syncthing works under the hood.

LucidBoi,

Because they might give your phone number to someone else, and then you don’t have any more control over who has your personal information. That’s how I look at it at least.

LucidBoi, (edited )

It doesn’t require a phone number anymore.

Edit: I was wrong. :p

LucidBoi,

Ohh, I wasn’t aware that it was still necessary for registering.

LucidBoi,

Thank you! I didn’t know such a key existed.

LucidBoi,

I definitely will. Thanks!

LucidBoi,

That’s cool. So, this Compose key isn’t a thing on Windows? Thank you for the answer.

LucidBoi,

Thank you so much for the answer and the link to “The Book”! The Linux world is so amazing and I’m happy to learn more.

LucidBoi,

I have thoroughly enjoyed this lore drop.

LucidBoi,

Why would it even be there? This is a fresh install of Zorin OS. I’ll just change it.

LucidBoi,

That’s odd. I’ll delete it since it’s empty and create a new one called just “applications”. I tried having both yesterday, but it didn’t work even though I put the Syncthing .desktop files inside and restarted my PC.

LucidBoi,

Yup, already checked and a file exists connecting them.

LucidBoi,

Yup.

LucidBoi,

Yes, of course I did. How would it otherwise be telling me that it can’t connect to the KPXC app?

LucidBoi,

This is the solution that I followed mostly, but I didn’t manage to make it work. I think the XDG-something is different for me. I’m new to Linux so I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong following this solution :/ Might have to read up on sockets and the terminology used a bit more…

LucidBoi,

Do you think it would help if I installed KPXC another way so it’s not “sandboxed”?

LucidBoi,

I DID IT!!! I DID IT!!! I INSTALLED FIREFOX FROM SOURCE (TAR.BZ2) AND RUN KPXC FROM THE APPIMAGE!!! LET’S GOOO!

LucidBoi,

What do you mean by installing FF using my distro’s package manager? Zorin doesn’t have their own.

LucidBoi,

Sorry if I offended you. Just thought it was obvious from the post.

LucidBoi,

Does “native installation” mean installed from source or as it came with the OS?

LucidBoi,

Ended up trying that, but it didn’t work. “Key exchange unsuccessful”, it said. Ended up installing both FF and KPXC over apt and it’s working like a charm.

LucidBoi,

I use two separate KeePassXC databases. One for passwords and one for TOTP. They are being synced on my devices using Syncthing.
