MeaanBeaan,

Does miyamoto do business stuff? Always thought he was the creative guy.

MeaanBeaan,

Was going to be upset because I played the game through game pass and bought the Lego dlc for it but not the actual game. Looks like they’re sending out free copies of the game if you are in the same boat. So that’s good.

MeaanBeaan,

Right next to the crosses. Perfect. Right where it belongs.

MeaanBeaan,

This is my understanding of the situation so please don’t fully take my word for it.

Garland refused to fully cooperate with a subpoena issued to him by rebublicans. (specifically he refused to hand over audio from an interview of Biden in his classified documents investigation) Garland refused to cooperate because Biden told him not to cooperate. Republicans in congress then voted to find him in contempt of congress and wanted the DOJ to prosecute him. The DOJ then came through saying he didn’t do anything wrong because he just did what Biden told him to do. And being part of biden’s administration it’s only normal to do what the president asks.

If we want to go back even further iirc there was a special council investigation into Biden regarding a handful of documents found at biden’s home from the Obama administration. Biden apologized saying he forgot that he had those docs. He handed those docs over to investigators and fully cooperated with them. That whole situation ended with special investigators finding that Biden didn’t do anything malicious and just forgot to relinquish (I think it was literally 3) those docs when he left office in 2016. That should have been the end of it. Republicans then drudged things up and wanted his interview from that investigation. Presumably to make it look like Biden was guilty of the same crimes trump is guilty of.

Technically speaking though Biden is guilty of violating the presidential records act. The same act trump is/was being tried for in his classified documents case. The difference being that Trump willfully took boxes upon boxes of documents pertaining to our national security secrets to Mar-a-Lago when he left office and then refused to cooperate with the FBI when they called him out for it. This then forced the FBI to raid Mar-a-Lago to get the documents back. Biden on the other hand was just old and forgot about some work he took home. When he was called out about it he fully cooperated and gave the documents back.

MeaanBeaan,

Thank you for providing that context. Good to know the situation is even dumber than I thought.

MeaanBeaan,

I mean, I clearly didn’t mean he had a guilty judgment against him and the word guilty doesn’t necessarily always imply legally guilty. But fine. For semantic’s sake, He’s not “guilty”, but he did in fact violate the presidential records act. It was just decided that he wouldn’t be prosecuted because it was a just a small oversight. Which, to be clear, is a decision I agree with.

MeaanBeaan,

Anyone know if and how this might affect Grayjay or revanced?

MeaanBeaan,

It wouldn’t be the first time the first point has been brought up. If true it does sound pretty anti competition. But so far there’s been no proof valve is actually doing this and I’m skeptical that it’s happening at all. If it were happening I don’t think we would be getting free games on epic (at least not ones that are also sold on steam). Nor do I think we’d have games on gamepass that are also on steam. I also routinely see sales for games on Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, and epic that at the time at least make the games cheaper than they are on steam.

Maybe they have agreements with certain publishers to provide a lower platform fee than 30% in exchange for them not providing the games cheaper on other platforms?

MeaanBeaan,

Yeah agreed.

MeaanBeaan,

See, your mistake was driving in Maryland. It’s Mad Max out here.

MeaanBeaan,

According to who? Halo CE anniversary is higher fidelity than the original sure. But the art direction is all over the place and not at all consistent with the original style. Not to mention the fact they changed the geometry of everything without actually changing collision. Making shots hit walls/trees/objects that are no longer in that spot.

They also just took enemy models straight out of halo reach without any consideration for how those designs match the original games aesthetic.

If you like it, great. I’m happy you’re able to enjoy it. But as someone who grew up with the original the anniversary version was a slap in the face and a blatant cash grab.

That being said I don’t have much faith that a new remake would be much better.

MeaanBeaan,

Steve bannon looks like the result of a teleportation experiment gone awry. now he’s started his metamorphosis into a half man half totalled 1998 Chevy Silverado monstrosity.

MeaanBeaan,

The Yuzu devs did quite a bit wrong. For starters they were selling access to early builds of Yuzu (making ~$30,000/month) and allegedly promoting piracy on their discord servers (specifically they were helping people play Totk before it came out last year iirc). These were the things Nintendo went after yuzu for. If they had just released their emulator for free while stating they didn’t support piracy (and actually maintained that viewpoint), Just like how every other emulator does it, I highly doubt Nintendo would have ever gone after them.

If you keep your hands clean as an emulator dev and don’t release any copyrighted material there’s nothing Nintendo can do to you. At least that’s what the past has shown.

MeaanBeaan,

Per the linked article.

“Gun trace data is kept out of public view by a rider to a Congressional bill known as the “Tiahrt Amendment,” passed in 2003 to shield gun shops from scrutiny. Each year, the ATF provides a count of the guns recovered in Mexico that had been bought in the U.S., with no further details.”

Nothing to do with the Mexican govt. The US govt passed a law in 2003 to prevent gun sale data from being public record. This includes sales of firearms eventually used in armed conflicts in Mexico.

MeaanBeaan,

I can be both mad that this data isn’t public record and that the BATFE aren’t doing their jobs.

I would disagree that there’s zero reason for this data to be public record. I’d agree with you if we were just shielding individuals who are purchasing like one handgun or something. That’s something that I don’t think is anyone else’s business. But if a dude is buying 95 semi-automatic rifles in a short period of time you bet your ass I think that should be public knowledge. No one should be able to secretly purchase enough firearms to arm a small militia.

MeaanBeaan,

I played a couple hours last night on game pass. I have a 3060 ti and a real cruddy cpu (ryzen 5 2600)

The game is absolutely gorgeous and I was surprised how well it ran on my machine. It’s a UE5 game though so obviously there were plenty of stutters. Definitely not the worst I’ve seen though. Much better than any frostbite game. So thats good. The audio design in headphones is also probably the best I’ve ever experienced in a game. Shit had me genuinely crawling in my skin when a random scary ass voice would start whispering at the back of my neck. Really cool stuff.

The gameplay though? Boring as fuck. I had assumed they would evolve the gameplay somewhat from the first game. I would have thought the devs would have realized that finding symbols hidden in a gray ass environment is about as engaging as a dollar store crossword book. But nope. It’s pretty much exactly the same as the first game. I don’t get it. Why devote so much money and resources into a game that just isn’t engaging to play? Sure, it’s gorgeous and sounds incredible. But if that’s all your game has going for it just make a CGI TV show or something.

Republican bill aims to give Americans in Israeli military same benefits as US soldiers (www.middleeasteye.net)

Two Republican congressmen have introduced legislation that would provide the same employment and economic protections to Americans serving in the Israeli military as US citizens who get deployed to serve in the US military....

MeaanBeaan,

American here.

No fucking clue. I’m as surprised as you are. Seriously wtf?

MeaanBeaan,

Yeah that whole Dolphin thing was weird. Seemed like valve just didn’t want to deal with the legal headaches of fighting Nintendo in court over an application that didn’t really need to be on the steam store in the first place.

Can’t say I blame them really.

Personal opinion time: I don’t think emulators belong on a commercial store anyway. Keep them on their own websites or Github. Putting them on a store like steam is just asking for trouble.

MeaanBeaan,

Definitely the third option. They’re going to wait until Helldivers hype dies down then quietly reimplement the requirement when much less people are tuned in. Guaranteed.

MeaanBeaan,

And music streaming is only as good as it is because artists are getting completely shafted at every turn by both the streaming services and the record labels.

MeaanBeaan,

Damn. Hifi Rush was probably my favorite game last year. And that’s saying a lot for a year absolutely packed with crazy good releases.

Hopefully the devs maintained the rights to the IP, though I somehow doubt it, so they can still make the sequel under a different umbrella.

MeaanBeaan,

Am I supposed to be afraid of another small enclave of idiots making gigantic asses out of themselves on an international stage?

MeaanBeaan,

But then how could poor Nvidia ever hope to sell any more gpus waaaay above MSRP??

MeaanBeaan,

I personally used the trackpad as mouse input. Was much better than using left stick for me.

MeaanBeaan,

And on the third day, our great cheeto will rise once more.

MeaanBeaan,

Everyone is treating this like this guy is actively saying Biden isn’t going to be on the ballot. But he’s just saying dates conflict and it’s a minor problem than needs to be fixed. Seems like no bigger deal than a work email from that annoying coworker pointing out some minor problem like it’s a huge issue. Yes Carl, I know we won’t have enough paper for the copier to last the rest of the quarter. I’ll order more. It’s fine.

MeaanBeaan,

I imagine it’s the same reason I like movies and music that came out before I was born. You don’t have to be generationally tied to something to like it. People are going to like good things if they’re good. I don’t feel like it really matters when something came out.

MeaanBeaan,

Just saw this at PAX and talked with one of the devs about it. Looked pretty fun.

MeaanBeaan,

Reading through the article he actually seems to indicate the opposite. He actually specifically mentions how he’s frustrated when trying to use windows handhelds because of windows things and that he needs to take ownership over those issues. And he talks about bringing Xbox games (seemingly implying gamepass) to other devices. The phrase “every screen is an Xbox” came up. He also mentioned that they mocked up a windows gaming handheld at some point but nothing came to fruition.

Seems like, at least from what he said here, that they are at least looking into bring gamepass to steam deck.

Of course saying something and actually doing something are two entirely different things so we’ll see I guess. I’m not holding my breath.

MeaanBeaan,

This doesn’t make any sense at all. All headphones are analog regardless of what their cable is and cable type makes no difference when it comes to sound quality. And there certainly isn’t some kind of limitation inherent to usb. Unless you’re plugging your headphones directly into some hifi vinyl record setup your signal is going to start out as digital and will have to be converted to an analog signal with a DAC. Plugging into a 3.5mm headphone jack just means you’re using the DAC built into that device. Plugging into a USB port just means the headphones you’re using need to have that DAC built in (likely into the cable itself). Not only that but there’s a high degree of likelyhood that the DAC built into your USB headphones would be made of better components than the one attached to whatever 3.5mm jack you’re plugging into. Though it’s not super likely that a higher quality DAC would affect sound quality all that much if at all. Basically any DAC you’re likely to run a signal through is fully capable of playing full quality lossless audio. Though a better DAC would at least make noise from interference less likely.

MeaanBeaan,

Isn’t life expectancy in the US lowering though?

MeaanBeaan,

I wonder if this is the impotus for that recent announcement that they’re going to start supporting the pc vr games with the headset.

Ukraine’s Zelensky Signs Medical Marijuana Bill, A Step He Says Can Heal ‘Pain, Stress and Trauma Of War’ With Russia (www.marijuanamoment.net)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially signed a bill to legalize medical marijuana—a step that he and other officials say can help soldiers address physical and mental wounds incurred during the nation’s war with Russia....

MeaanBeaan,

The fact that he says this shit while Krokodil exists is fucking laughable.

MeaanBeaan,

If someone were to take offense to me calling them dude I would absolutely make every effort to stop the behavior. I would never want anyone to feel invalidated over something like that.

That being said I feel like this whole outrage is manufactured to rile people up. I highly doubt many people are getting worked up over it. Dude has very much become a gender neutral term and is even now just used as an exclamation. I’d be willing to bet a large portion, if not the large majority, of the trans community doesn’t give a fuck about the term and they probably use it themselves.

MeaanBeaan,

Yeah, I mean, if someone politely asked another person to stop calling them some phrase or another and they refused they’re definitely an asshole. No doubt about it.

In the same token though if someone gets rude and indignant over someone calling them dude one time that person is also an asshole.

We should be treating people with respect. Period.

MeaanBeaan,

Jesus christ. I think there’s a lot about that game I’ve blocked out. Piss grenade was definitely one of them.

MeaanBeaan,

I’m assuming he’s referring to student loan forgiveness. I could see him getting banned from certain communities for saying he’s against it.

MeaanBeaan,

They didn’t. It’s $25 for the 48 DLC courses. Base game is still $60 in the eshop.
