SqueakyBeaver,

You have to keep pointing out the bad shit he does, or some people are gonna forget

SqueakyBeaver,

Huh, I wonder if sheep used to grow less sool and humans just bred them for a lot of wool. Time to go research!

Edit: that is exactly what happened. Wild sheep do not grow a lot of wool.

SqueakyBeaver,

It’d be really funny if it’s only streaming the texture for like a small bush and this is just a shitty justification

SqueakyBeaver,

I think you’re reaching there a bit, because no one said anything about forced veganism. You can eat meat and be against the horrors of (the vast majority of) the meat industry.

(If I read your reply wrong, let me know and I will delete this)

SqueakyBeaver,

If Android: Aliucord -based on the Kotlin (old) version Bunny/Pyoncord - The current best (and afaik only maintained) fork of Vendetta. Based on the new versions of discord

If iOS: Enmity - I know nothing about this

Also for your consideration: this list of client mods

SqueakyBeaver,

(Off topic, I know) It really looks like the person in the thumbnail is trying to eat the mic in one bite

SqueakyBeaver,

When seemingly everyone in your life is telling you lies about “oh we just hate the sin, not the sinner”, it’s really hard to see it for what it is That and some very specific parts of Catholicism and Christianity in general are very comforting. Also, if you were born into it, breaking away could mean losing everyone close to you or having to put up with people trying to convert you back

SqueakyBeaver,

btw did you know I use Linux :p

SqueakyBeaver,

I’m using bazzite, so I’ve had absolutely no issues (note that I have an Intel iGPU bc shitty laptop)

Building a brand new machine and leaving Windows for good

I’m sick of Windows, and especially what it’s become, and the way its trending looks like it will only get worse. I’ll be building a brand new PC this summer and want to choose a Linux Distro instead. In preparation, I’d like to try out a virtual machine with a Linux distribution. I am solidly familiar with Ubuntu, but I...

SqueakyBeaver,

I typically recommend pop!_os over Manjaro

Realistically, though, most distros will work well for gaming if you install steam, proton-up, and maybe lutris so long as you don’t need Nvidia drivers

SqueakyBeaver,

I use bazzite, and it admittedly isn’t the best for out-of-the-box development work because of it being atomic

You can just make a container for your development, but I’d rather not (I just layer packages atm and I’m working on making my own image based on it that has the stuff I want)

SqueakyBeaver,

Yeah I mostly said that because some distros have different difficulty getting them last I checked, but the wording was unclear to say the least

Some questions about fedora

Hello. These questions are self-hosting related, but I feel they do partially belong here as they are also about fedora linux in general. I have a server which is currently running Debian. It has an arc GPU, and no matter what I do, video encoding refuses to work. I was thinking I might move it to Fedora, but have some questions...

SqueakyBeaver,

If you’re interested in fedora atomic desktops, I would check out one of the uBlue projects (you can even switch back to plain old fedora atomic if you want)

SqueakyBeaver,

I found that thread because I was curious I’ve skimmed it and saw many instances of people going “but it’s only on the snapdragon x chip”, as if Intel and AMD aren’t gonna release the same CPUs but capable of more AI shit

SqueakyBeaver,

Yeah I tried installing it a year or two ago, but a lot of the hardware on my laptop (only machine atm) was not compatible. It was stuff like the touchpad not even being detected. I booted into the same install iso a few months ago and somehow it all worked.

It’s a shit show sometimes, but it can surprise you

SqueakyBeaver,

I disagree. I’ve used KDE’s discover thingy to install stuff basically through dnf on fedora. It’s incredibly possible for the average user, who basically just browses the web and maybe writes documents.

SqueakyBeaver,

I stumbled upon this like 5 hours too late, but hi this is your reminder

SqueakyBeaver,

I just say Google hoping that the trademark will eventually become generalized like escalator

SqueakyBeaver,

Yes, but your comment has a real “all lives matter” vibe to it

SqueakyBeaver,

I’d be willing to bet it’s people fearing another xz-like situation

SqueakyBeaver,

My Samsung A11 (android 12) has a “lockdown” option when you held the power button. It would turn off all biometrics and hide notifications. You may have to dig in the settings to enable it, though

SqueakyBeaver,

Most of those are optional lol The only ones that aren’t are the network ones, and after looking at the source code, it’s mostly used for error messages

SqueakyBeaver,

If it helps, I’m pretty sure the devs are in the process of rewriting the UI on a private repo. Idk if there’s any eta or progress chart

SqueakyBeaver,

My one piece of advice for if you ever end up switching to Linux is to not use an Arch-based distro. I’m sure there’s one that requires no tinkering, but every Arch distro I’ve used required me to tinker

SqueakyBeaver,

omg really? I’ve been having to add my device by up bc for whatever reason my uni’s wifi, kde connect, and my phone do not play well together

  • SqueakyBeaver,

I could be totally wrong, but this meme could be referring to conservatives who (I think) recently went after Taylor Swift for her carbon emissions (idk why, that’s never been an issue for them before)

    SqueakyBeaver,

Idk why but this makes me want to write one of the funniest and least professional resumes possible, but still make it show off my skills and stuff.

    SqueakyBeaver,

The anime character’s (the one on the hood) pigtails have pigtails

    SqueakyBeaver,

One metaphor I’ve seen that I really liked is something along the lines of: When you’re given vanilla ice cream, you might not hate it. Some people do, but you’re okay with it. However, chocolate ice cream is something you want much more, so you opt to switch in your vanilla for chocolate. (I’m bad at analogies)

All in all, from what I see, bon-dysphoric trans people are just trans people who are much happier as their preferred gender, but don’t really hate their agab in a dysphoria way.

Note: it’s been a hot minute since I’ve though about trans meds and this stuff. Also, I’m dysphoric if that matters at all.
