So I took the plunge and installed Fedora Silverblue because of all that immutable buzz. And it’s the most frustrating change I have made in almost 20 years of my distrohopping....
Yeah. My guess is that for every meticulously hand crafted ui, there’s 10 that just go with the default. If a user wants an icon pack where🤘means home, they’ll be perfectly fine with navigating your application.
Developers can always include an option to disable styling if that would severely break the ui. But personally, I’d rather use a application that looks roughly like every other one in the system, than one that’s so specifically designed that it doesn’t.
Besides it’s usefulness as an adblocker, I like how it allows you to disable javascript for a site with just 2 clicks. Closing a newsletter popup works for a visit, but no javascript works forever.
Since you really should be creating a backup of the data before doing such a conversion in the first place, the best (not necessarily the fastest, but definitely the safest) way would be to copy the data to another medium, and copy it back when the space has been formatted.
I couldn’t watch more than a few moments either because, as someone else mentioned, I prefer to take this kind of content in text form. Having said that…
Because he is obnoxious and so sure of his bad takes as if they’re fact, as opposed to shit opinions.
I bought one last year, and even though I was hesitant because of its age, it can handle all the content I throw at it (4k 10 bit hdr h265, etc). As for the the ads, I solved that by installing a third party launcher.
The only issue I have with this setup is that I haven’t found a good replacement for YouTube yet. A revanced for android TV would be amazing.
Agreed, those are pretty permissive licenses (though not completely free), but they’re still licenses that you deliberately choose, not ones that were forced upon you.
Dell has got to be one of the most frustrating companies that put out a linux laptop. They put out a laptop certified for ubuntu but then never support newer releases. A big part of their hardware is always proprietary drivers like webcam, fingerprint reader etc… Then you update to a new LTS release because lets be serious...
My last few laptops have been Tuxedo. Can heartily recommend. The tux key instead of the windows logo is a very nice touch. The first ones were 13", and their tiny fans could be rather loud during normal operation, but now I have a 15" and it’s a dream.
Personally I find it far more important that it’s not run by a company that will try its hardest to track your every movement on the web, but to each their own, I suppose.
