I agree with that. I didn’t plan on listening to this at all, but I needed some background noise while cooking.

This was a game that was on my wishlist… But, I never managed to get it. Even when blockbuster closed and they were selling things off. I went to blockbuster, found it, went to the counter and… Oops, they couldn’t find it because someone had rented it out and never returned it.

Someday I’ll get to play it, I’m sure. Maybe I’ll install an emulator, but it won’t be the same without the controller and the CRT TV.

Wanna play media bias bingo?

From allsides.com/…/how-to-spot-types-of-media-bias

I see a little…

  • Spin
  • Unsubstantiated Claims
  • Sensationalism
  • Slant
  • Omission of Source Attribution
  • Bias by Story Choice and Placement
  • Subjective Qualifying Adjectives
  • Word Choice

Ok, some of those are a stretch…

Either way, the editors are probably happy, they are clickbaity headlines.

Strawberry is still active. But I think you need Beets or Picard, as others have mentioned.

There are a handful of other tools that can help with sorting as well. I think Quod Libet and Ex Falso are available on may distros, I used to use Ex Falso for quick manual tagging and pulling in data from other sources.

As for the syncing, I couldn’t help you there. I have used Strawberry for this, for sure, but I tend to drag and drop to my DAP.

The Trine games are fine for couch co-op.

And Overcooked.

Newsboat

I am not one of these terminal wizards. I do heck of a lot in the terminal, though. One thing I never thought I’d do in browse RSS feeds.

But, a few years back I was in a situation where my only working computer was a Raspberry Pi so I found myself using Newsboat and I realised the big deal.

When I was young (probably too young) I would always play as Kabal on UMK3. That spin attack plus the easy combos was great.

Fan Ports PlayStation Classic [WipeOut], Dares Sony To Shut Him Down And Make Its Own (kotaku.com)

WipeOut was Sony’s initial first-party exclusive for the original PlayStation when it launched back in 1995. The anti-gravity racing game was phenomenal. Now it’s abandoned. So one dedicated programmer took it upon himself to excavate the game’s leaked source code and make it playable for free in any web browser....

Sony should kee this series going. And Nintendo needs to do something with F-Zero.

What games have you played in the last 365 days that stand out to you as the most memorable experiences?

I think the most common answer is going to be Tears of the Kingdom, and that is one for me that stands out for sure, but I will try to add some more unique inputs as well. Many are games that came out longer than a year ago, but i didnt get around to playing until more recently....

Street Fighter 6 taught me to enjoy fighting games again.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time showed me (again) that rebooting a franchise is worth it. There is so much to do and I haven’t been challenged like this since Hollow Knight. The levels are gorgeous and creative. Plus, the game is teaching my son that it is OK to lose and that persistence pays off.

What non-FOSS software are you using that you wish you could replace?

For me its honestly a ton of my work software (digital forensics), shit is too niche to be replaced by good FOSS options. Cellebrite, Magnet Axiom, etc. Autopsy is great and free and has a linux version but it simply cannot get the same level of data without a pretty nutty level of custom code....

On my phone: a FOSS “find-my-phone” function

On my computer: a FOSS way to access Teams for work. Just give me a Weechat plugin please.

That make sense. I was wondering about this just the other week. I would absolutely pay for and play both the Cybertron games and Devastation again.

Thanks for the share.

I feel you on the destination. Don’t get me wrong, I want all the side quests, but open world games don’t tickle my fancy. Give me arcade games, karting, platformers, metroidvanias, old Zelda games any day of the week.

I liked the Rogue Squadron games…and obviously Episode I: Racer. Played the hell out of Racer.

Is the PS4 still a viable console?

One of my close friends decided that she's no longer enjoying games so she offered to sell it to me for really cheap (100$). I love gaming but since I switched to Mac a few years ago my choices have been very limited. I've been mostly playing indie games that are available on Mac. So I've been thinking about her offer....

I still buy games for my PS4 and I am a very casual gamer who never plays online.

Picked up SF6 this month and it is awesome.

what's your favorite Gameboy game that isn't Pokemon or Mario?

I've just rediscovered my childhood Gameboys, I grew up in the 90s and had an original, a color, an advance and an sp. My game collection has whittled down over the year to the usual suspects, Pokemons, Zelda's, Mario's and some other standards. But I want to dive into some games that 7 year old me would have brushed over. So...

  • Mole Mania
  • Donkey Kong Land series isn't too bad
  • James Bond 007
  • Bionic Commando Elite Forces (GBC)
  • Donkey Kong 94
  • Some random puzzle games that nobody every played like Heiankyo Alien or Battle Bull

My favourites were always Metroid II and Zelda

Oh, true. Nice fast game. Kickin soundtrack, slick as butter gameplay.

MythForce, the ’80s cartoon video game, comes to Steam and eyes a console launch (www.polygon.com)

Randomly came across an article on this game. There’s a demo up in Steam but I haven’t tried it yet. It looks really cool and colourful and can be played single player or via online multiplayer (no LAN or split screen as far as I can tell). Anyway just wanted to share because it looks like it could be fun.

The only one I know is Dead Cells. I could play it all day even though I'm awful haha.

I’d say 95% Markdown + Pandoc for when I make documents. The other 5% is LibreOffice.

When it comes time to make graphs and charts I really like wasting my time so I always try out something new (or old) to get the job done. Last time I used Pygal.

When it comes to dealing with docs from colleagues, it is all LibreOffice and Zathura.

Yep, I live in France (and this YouTuber is French, which is why he is talking about the case). This whole story passed under the radar here because it is the type of thing that French people would be up in arms about.

I think at some point they will likely pass a law related to encryption or ban some of the alternative app stores for phones.
