uhN0id,

When this game came out I hated it because I loved the original Call of Duty games that were super slow paced and more realistic. But eventually it became my main game playing till 4am on Xbox with friends. I miss the simplicity of COD MW.

uhN0id,

It’s like when people that cheat on others in their relationships start accusing their partners of cheating or have major trust issues because of their guilt (or whatever it is). And by that same logic I conclude that Nickmercs is a pedo (if he can do it with the LGBTQ community without evidence then he wouldn’t mind me making similarly wild claims about him, right?).

uhN0id,

I haven’t read anything about the game yet but just based on this trailer I’m getting a Dark Tide meets Helldivers vibe and I’m all for it.

uhN0id,

Haven’t played since close to launch (because it was very laggy). I really liked the idea and had a lot of fun when it was working. I haven’t played in a while so I can’t comment on the current state of the game but if you like Tarkov or DMZ there’s a good chance you’ll like this game. It feels like it’s somewhere between the arcade feel of DMZ and the milsim feel of Tarkov.

I also like that it’s one big living map. I haven’t tested it but I’m pretty sure you can be in one zone and run all the way over to a totally different zone (what would be considered a different map in Tarkov). The map feels super big. I’m excited to check it out again.

uhN0id,

Not OP comment but I had no idea Wayland supported all of that. Thanks for sharing! I really need to leave my Linux bubble more often.

uhN0id,

Now we have millions of useless posts being archived like this one.

The archives! Why won’t anyone think of the archives!?

If we have room for comments like yours in the archives then we have room for legitimate questions by beginners in there too. Your post history shows a significant amount of deleted comments and downvotes. I bet they were all very productive and helpful comments for the archives, right?

uhN0id,

Then offer education or ignore the post. You know what’s easier than OP googling the question? You not responding to OP if you don’t have anything of value to add. You’re here with a passive aggressive “let me Google that for you” bullshit attitude yet YOU’RE upset at OP for not being better at searching for their answers?

I agree people should put more effort into trying to figure it out on their own and learning how to ask good questions but the tone of your comments is more detrimental to the quality of these communities than a “stupid question” ever will be.

@games What demos did you try today? | DAY 2

Greetings festive fellowship of the fediverse, it's the second day of the , and there are still many games to discover and discuss, let's share our mutual discoveries of today

uhN0id,

Whoa didn’t even hear about this. Some of my favorite games ever are the Pharaoh and Caesar games by Impressions Games. Gonna have to check it out!

uhN0id,

Agreed. I am not a fantasy fan for games really at all (with very few exceptions) but this looks so rad. The combination of tech and fantasy looks like a wild ride.

uhN0id,

When I first saw the trailer I thought it was official. My heart broke when I learned the truth. Been playing Half Life since the original came out in 1998. That was an amazing Thanksgiving as a 14yr old.

I remember being at Costco with my mom and back then they had tables set up in the entrance with tons of software and game boxes and I looked at the back of the box and thought “cool! I want it!”. Asked my mom if I could get it as an early Christmas gift who never said yes to that kind of thing and she said yes. I couldn’t believe it.

I remember playing it and being so confused in the intro when you’re on the train/tram because I couldn’t figure out how to get off. I was so used to FPS games like Quake and Doom where you just clicked “new game” and were just dropped into the action or there were basic cinematics setting up the story. The build up to the action was so unique at the time it blew me away.

Sorry for the novel. Just so many fond memories of this game and I was really stoked when I saw this stupidly well done trailer haha.

uhN0id,

I totally missed the clip you were shocked by at first (I guess the Twitter embed didn’t load the first time). Just went back to watch it and I don’t understand how someone can be ok with saying that. Yeah I’ve heard sexist things and weird sexual harassment comments in games like valorant, overwatch, etc but that was absolutely disgusting. His casual tone says so much about him too. He’s not even laughing where you could at least say “that’s a stupid shitty joke”. He has such a real tone to it that it’s truly disturbing.

I agree with all of your points. It’s unfortunate but I think we’ve gotten to the point that people need to be properly held accountable. Don’t just ban them from the game, ban them from the entire platform and report them to local authorities for that. Hell, when someone is this nasty someone on the community team should send it to their employer. It’s clearly a threat even if he has no way to see it through. This isn’t just calling someone trash, or telling a woman to “go back to the kitchen”. These people need to learn what real consequences are. It’s truly disgusting behavior.

uhN0id,

Didn’t know I needed a Hades style Metal Slug until your comment but now I can’t live without it.

uhN0id,

Wow that looks fun! Shocked that a game like this is still charging $20 after being out for 10yrs though. Good for them!

uhN0id,

I had this in Paris a couple years ago thinking “ok it sounds good but strange that it’s so popular”. After the first one it’s all I wanted to eat the rest of the trip haha.

How easy is it to switch back to windows?

I’m considering switching to linux but I’m not a computer savvy person, so I wanted to have the option to switch back to windows if unforeseen complications (I only have 1 pc). Is it just a download on usb and install? And what ways can I get the product key or “cleaner” debloated versions.

uhN0id,

To that point it’s probably going to be a lot slower than running it on an HDD too. That said, the USB performance is surprisingly good when you consider you’re literally running an OS over USB and the OS isn’t even in an optimized state.

uhN0id,

Yeah if someone that is blind comes across a page I’m sure waiting for the description to generate is more valuable/worthwhile than a faster experience with no information at all.

uhN0id, (edited )

I’m sorry but this reads like someone that hasn’t used Rust or hasn’t spent much time with it. You’re generalizing Rust with other languages while forgetting that some fads turn into standards.

If everyone stopped trying new things we’d never see progress.

Edit: fixed typo

uhN0id,

God I miss the IRC days

uhN0id,

What is insecure about it?

uhN0id,

Ah interesting. Thank you, you’re giving me something to read about that I never considered for crates. I guess I just assumed because of the scrutiny Rust was built with and continues to go through that it would also apply to verifying crates. I have definitely heard about it with NPM so it should have been obvious that it might not be any different for crates. Thanks again!
