I’m playing it now and it’s fucking embarrassing. That’s not to say it’s not fun. There’s plenty of stuff to enjoy. But holy shit, the personality of the game is just embarrassing. I can’t possibly imagine this is anyone’s idea of cool or funny. It feels like they were trying to sell this to 9 year olds. It’s not just the fact that it’s sanitized (although that’s certainly a complaint), it’s also corny. The first few minutes has the characters enthusiastically planning karaoke and “mug-mosas.” I know the series had been moving in this general direction for a while, but I was really hoping that with the reboot, they’d pull back on the club kid/social media influencer type of personality.
This is Mastodon. You can verify youself if you link your account from your website, so it’s less prestigeous than the original Twitter verification, but it’s still a lot better that Musk’s “verified idiot” mark
Defective LEDs with massively reduced service lives made it out of the factory and into streetlights around the world. If you ever see a purple street light, a failing LED module is the cause.
none like that around here. they're all blindingly bright af along the main streets and downtown--probably 4-5x as many lamps in each fixture as actually needed, and going up and down hills they shine right in your eyes because they don't have adequate shades keeping the light 'down'.
residential areas still have the much easier-on-the-eyes sodium vapor lights, though--for now.
I know a guy that very was vocal against street lights in the 90’s.
He was/is an amateur astronomer that modified his rooftop to be an actual telescope and the street lamps were angled in a certain way that like 40% of the light produced by them was shinning to the sky, making his observations harder to perform.
He went to my school to warn about light pollution and also teach us about planets and all that good stuff.
I think he became frustrated and quitted because last time I saw anything about him he was all about rescuing dogs from the street. :/
Vet here (🤮). Who gives a shit. I’ve heard numerous professions have so-called “Veteran Xs”. It implies experience, knowledge, and time spent in a role. Not having had your leg blown off by an I.E.D.
Is this jackwagon even a Veteran, or is this just another virtue signaller who feels they need to jump to our defense for brownie points?
Honestly I think this is the point of confusion. This guy has somehow never heard the word used anywhere other than the widespread military usage and his own field. Weird that that’s the case, but given that starting point I don’t think it’s crazy for him to say “why are people in my field acting like we’ve fought in a war? Maybe we should chill and take ourselves less seriously”.
Obviously there’s the additional problems of not googling things before trying to make a public point, and apparently doubling down when corrected. But I see where a sufficiently sheltered person could get there at least.
