Not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, it’s not like BioWare we’re devoting a lot of time on SWTOR. But on the other hand, this might spell the end of story rich content, which to be honest have been pretty sparse for a number of years. Nevertheless, I’ll keep playing it mainly as a single player game as long as I can.
I really did not enjoy xv after the first few hours. The game felt pretty empty. Traversal in the world also was really frustrating. Plenty of places that were just blocked by bushes or endless open fields.
Dragon quest 11 was so much better even if it were on the easier side.
The cynical side of me says they're doing this to sell one of the halves off to one of the other publishers. The optimist in me hopes this leads to one more publisher in this space; we sorely need less consolidation.
That's my thought as well -- the licensed sports game market is probably more reliable (and generates more revenue vs. development cost) than originals, and they can "streamline" their business by splitting the originals business off for a sale. Not including sports probably makes the originals side more attractive to platform holders, as most sports games probably include provisions that require multiplatform releases (see also: the MLB signing a publishing deal for Sony's "The Show" on non-Sony platforms).
Yeah and we can all knock their sports division all we want but it brought in money. With this change and in the possible outcome that they're not out to be bought, we'll have to see if the originals side will become a lot more risk-averse and pivot more into the GaaS market than they already were.
EA can barely release a quality game as is, I can see how splitting their knowledge is going to help them much. Unfortunately they’ve been benefitting from previously good franchise games scoring them bulk preorder monies
The Verge has a great chart showing the price changes for non-US subscriptions. Interesting that the US is getting spared from the Series X console price increase.
Beginning July 6, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $16.99 (a $2 increase), and regular Xbox Game Pass will now cost $10.99 monthly (a $1 increase). However, the price of PC Game Pass will remain at $9.99 a month.
That's a fairly small increase for what it includes. Also, no increase on PC, which seems odd.
When I read the title of the post I thought the sales spike was because of the movie Markiplier was making and I was confused as to how that'd be a bad thing. Makes more sense after reading the article.
This fiasco showed me just how much of my life I, evidently, spend under a rock. Had not heard a thing about this until after it was all said and done, when I walked in on a conversation everyone in my family was having about it. Even my nine-year-old. Lol
At least David wasn't using the tragedy to market the game himself, unlike Randy Pitfhford using BLM to get people to buy Duke Nukem games to "get back at pigs"
Everything I do is on PC, often times even Steam Deck, so I think the remaster is the perfect opportunity to finally get those features if the source ports don't have them.
Would be awesome if they finished the Zaero mission pack. Despite the bad reviews, I really liked all the badass sci-fi. Quake 2 is the peak of FPS to me
